Incidentally, for anyone who is interested, I believe we are having Andy Lee open up Monday's edition of "On the Ropes" at 6pm EST.

Boxrec put up "NC" when they don't have the result in yet. Is that what you mean?

Newspaper Decisions happened in 1920s and early 30s when the Walker Law was passed in America and was illegal to to have judges render decisions in a boxing match so the "winner" was often decided who the newpapers thought had won the fight.

I like my boxing history. That was the short answer, if I'd have answered that after breakfast you'd have got the full lecture. The Frawley Law, promoters bribing journalists, champs only losing titles by stoppage...etc etc..;)

In the ring I'd say the champs benefited, in most states a challenger had to knock them out to win the title, all the champ had to do was survive.

Even if he got a newspaper decision the most the challenger could expect was a rematch, even then some champs were wary of giving rematches to fighters who had made them look bad in a previous fight.
