Was that even in the 20s and 30s - that was almost certainly before then.....I can't remember the exact fight that led to the Walker Law being passed, and that pisses me off because it's the kind of thing I used to be proud of knowing. Anyway, Jack Johnson took more than full advantage of it as champion, so it had to have been passed in the 1900s.
I think that may have just been in some states of of the USA. Wasn't that the Frawley Law in New York that legalized boxing during that time?? Boxing was made illegal when Young McDonald died in the ring and then made legal again when the Walker Law came in around 1920. Edit: Done some checking and it was the Frawley Act, not the Frawley Law.
It's tough for the guys like Lee,Macklin and Barker at MW at the min. When they win as Lee did last night and Macklin will later,people say oh they should be stepping it up and going for a world title,but then you have Golovkin,Lemieux,N'jikam,Geale,Korobov and plenty of others all dying to get a world title shot too. When u add in the more seasoned guys like Sturm,Martinez and obviously Pirog is young but very talented, it's gonna be very hard for these guys to get a shot.
