blue ray, yes, mexican fighters have lost in title fights or in big non-title fights but they have also won their fair share of fights as well. did you know that since 2004, mexico/mexican-american fighters have produced a total of 40 world champions? on the other hand, the philippines/phil-am fighters have produced a total of 9 world champions. so tell me where mexico boxing needs resuscitation from certain death? by the way, within the last couple of years, the following pinoy fighters have failed at world title matches: - florante condes lost his title to mexico's raul garcia. - brian viloria lost the vacant title to edgar sosa by MD. - sonny boy jaro has lost in a title bid. - juanito rubillar has lost like 2 or 3 times in title bids. this guy gets more chances than a cat with nine lives. - bert batawang also lost his title bid by KO. - rodel mayol has lost 3 title shots. again, more chances than a cat with nine lives. - z gorres had his chances but blew them. - a. j. banal. here is a prospect who freddie roach once touted as the best prospect IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. but when he faced rafael concepcion from panama he wilted and quit in the 9th round. - gerry penalosa. gerry has had his share of success but his last fight ended in a TKO loss to juanma lopez. - rey bautista got smashed like a bug by ponce de leon who then got smashed like a bug to juanama lopez. - bernabe concepcion. another highly touted prospect just lost by DQ to steven luevano. - randy suico. here's a guy who had two title shots and failed at both, miserably. so you see blue ray, it's not only mexican fighters who are losing. and the way it looks, pinoy fighters are batting under .500 when confronted with high profile fights. one more thing, just because victor ortiz loss or urbano antillo loss or any other top mexican prospects doesn't mean they cannot regroup and become world champions some day. one loss does not make a career.
i haven't seen salvador sanchez (nephew) fight yet but i understand he fights (style wise) just like his uncle. i have seen pictures of him and i think he looks almost like a carbon copy as well. his career didn't start too hot but lately he's been improving leaps and bounds. am definitely keeping track of his career.
Kid can throw some nice combo but i see too many holes in his defence. It's too early to tell, but I do not see him really make it.
okay, bro, we're cool now. being civil would be the best way to answer these kinds of threads, and just be cool cause i know the posters that **** you off:good
we still have brandon vera seriously, we are okay right now. pinoy boxing is quite alive and its good you know? although we do not have bragging rights to say that other countries' status in boxing world is on the slide; so i understand where mexican posters in this forum are coming from
this is a very good post:thumbsup sometimes, some posters here just get a little carried away when it comes to insults and would resort to namecalling and ****. of course we are not supposed to tolerate it, but it happens. esb can be a very fun place when everybody sticks to boxing discussions, although it often turns ugly when some other posters decide to do personal attacks
Mexico will always have top notch fighters. Its like saying "Any Dominican baseball player WHo can save Dominican Baseball" Mexico Boxing is not going downhill,no matter how bad of a streak Mexico or Mexican American fighters have been on. It is only a matter of time till another Great Mexican appears.
Arent Viloria and Pacquiao world champs? Is sonsona a prospect nobody ever heard of recently turned Champ at however old he is? So that is 5 champs and 6 if you count Donaire even 7 if you count Jerry Penalosa not giving his belt up. That is a pretty good ratio. The number of Champions from the Philippines has actually increased post Pacquiao. Plus 2 on the # for # list. I think Philippine boxing is doing just fine. I can only wish Dominican boxing would do the same.
Mexican boxing doesn't need to be saved. A new wave of Mexican warriors is coming. New names are already poping up in several divisions.
-Juan Manuel Márquez -Juan Carlos Salgado -Humberto Soto -Cristóbal Cruz -Fernando Montiel -Édgar Sosa -Raúl García are ALL champions, second country with more champions, U.S. number one. hahaha at the ts.
