Mexico is a powerhouse in Boxing and always will be. Mexico is a close second to the US as far as the amount of quality fighters. Whoevers next is a distant 3rd!

Cuba is good in the amateurs but in the Pro's Cassamayor and Gamboa are the only ones.

As far as amatuer boxing yes Cuba is . As for the pro game they are nowhere near the top,but thats not cuz they dont have good fighters it is just not to many cuban fighters that are Pro. I agree that Puerto Rico is probably 3 which is saying alot considering they only have about 4million people.

Yeah, I forgot about those 2 definitely good prospects. I hope Cuba brings there talent stateside. I know Cuba will be a powerhouse in the future for sure just like the Phillipines will be too, venezuela seems to have some talent though linares blew it and Valero messing up his chances, columbia also seems to bring strong fighters... My Dominicans where you at???? Guzman where you at?? argh!!! Nothing like cheering for your own.

Yes Mexico is a great boxing country and even today it has many champions... The question now is, among these champs and prospects who will really shine and will grew in stature to the likes of Barrera, Chavez, Morales or JMM??

I think Cuba will have some really good guys but the # of fighters just isnt there. Phillipines has always had some good fighters but I think after Manny they wont be as prominent.I like Nonito though but they will go back to having a Luisito espinosa here and Gerry Penalosa there. I am surprised that the Dominican Rep has not had more fighters. I think the former Soviet Union is probably 4th then the Uk

I don't think it needs saving, Mexico will always produce a big number of top caliber fighters. True, maybe there isn't a marquee Mexican fighter right now the way Barrera was, but that in no means that "Mexican Boxing" needs saving. Just the fact that they have so many prospects is a good sign.

I don't understand the thread. I thought the sport was just boxing. It's bad enough there are 6 championships in each division, but now there's ethnicity divisions too. This is simply BOXING.
