DeGale is currently waiting to be let off the leash in Italy as he continues his march to greatness following the Groves robbery
He was the one that signed the contract that prohibits regular fights..... so he's only got himself to blame. Obviously the money was good.... Hopefully that'll be an example to the class of 2012, and whoever tries to sign them. The careers of Gavin, DeGale, Saunders and the others have been car crash material so far to be honest.
I haven't seen his hate posts or anything like that, so I can't judge but he gave a good argument against mine. :good
A problem with DeGale is that he seems quite content fighting 3 times a year on big/ PPV cards. Its just not the way to progress skills wise as a new pro, now he's 3 years into his career and still hasn't nailed down a fighting style he wants to employ. I've no problem with him signing a lucrative deal on the back of his Olympic gold medal to fight on big promotions but he should have mixed up it with other fights inbetween those outings. Both his and Frankies fault IMHO.
i was one of the few that predicted a Groves win and got slated for it. he should take the fight in italy. its winnable and a good payday
There has to be an argument to throwing him in with Froch. May sound harsh, but he needs to realise, one way or another, how much he actually has to learn. As has been said a trillion times, his promoter hasn't helped matters with the contract he offered.
He's sparred with Carl before and then refused to spar with him when Carl wanted him for the ward fight. Thought that was a bit disappointing but read into it what you want
i dont think froch should of said that to the cameras on ringside he should of took a page out of john mcdermotts book and kept it to himself lol
oh to be as influential as you think I am. You obviously didn't read my post where I explained the reason James gets a hard time. Do that before accusing me of being a hater. Next, skills has been fairly repulsive regarding groves. None of us are angels when we feel passionately. Calling me an internet hard man is funny. I can't stand the macho bull**** I hear. Again, read my posts. If you had you'd also know why I dislike James. The way he acted pre-groves is him, in truth. Bitter, jealous and insecure. He is spoilt and entitled. But my "hating" is a joke, a response to the ott praise he got for beating Paul Smith. DeGale is responsible for his current situation. That's why i'm so harsh about him. I don't throw fighters under a bus when they lose. But they need to show some humility and learn from it. James has done neither. Don't judge people based on a few posts. Make the effort.
I think big John was keeping quiet about a knockdown in sparring whereas Carl was complaining about degale just refusing to spar demanding that Carl come to him! As if that would ever happen!! Froch would be great sparring for any prospect
there might be reasons why he didnt want to go to sheffield i doubt degale is physically scared of sparring froch lol
There's nothing scary about going to Sheffield. Why not spar? It's an opportunity to work with a world class fighter and trainer pairing. In addition to having some of the ego whacked out of him he might pick up a thing or two? But no, prefers to train with Cleverly and the Laurel and Hardy combination of Vince and Jimmy Mac.
I frequently read the forum, and you generally come across as an articulate, discerning individual. However, some of the points raised seem a little wide of the mark. I've worked with James and he was nothing but civil and courteous to all he interacted with, regardless of perceived status: BBBofC officials, media, other fighters and 'Joe Public' were all equally welcomed. I've been fortunate enough to work with a number of individuals within elite sport. It is common, as I'm sure you're aware, to become self obsessed in the run up to competition. James was quite the opposite; always asking how my training is going, inquiring how my girlfriend is doing, asking about my job, etc. While this is to be expected, it is a far cry from the picture of selfishness and egotism that you paint. It certainly wasn't 'all about him.' While you may not like him, I find it hard to believe that everyone you know who has worked with him would describe him as a "****." Regarding the Froch sparring: I can't remember the exact timing, but it was documented that he perforated his eardrum in the Wilczewski fight. That could well have been a contributing factor.
