I think Mikey can time Spence and land some beautiful straight right hands, but does Mikey have enough pop to hurt Spence? My guess would be no, but you never know.
yes. i would have said no just 6 months ago but ive seen enough since then to convince me mikey is going to beat spence. legitimately beat spence. i didnt think he had the size to compete with spence, and what i knew of his training methods, i knew he wasnt going to gain the size correctly. when he signed up for snac, i knew he would be gaining the weight correctly, through the right training and nutrition. that solved that problem. i didnt think he had the power to hurt spence. ive always thought he had the power to buzz any welter enough to stop them from just walking in on him swinging, he can put you on your ass. but i didnt think he could actually put spence in a position to be stopped. i know that before this fight, mikey has never trained his midsection, at all. i also know what that is going to do to his power and i now believe mikey is going to display the most power youve ever seen in his punches. i didnt think mikey would have the stamina to carry the extra weight, at the pace spence is going to set, to be able to keep spence at the distance he needs him at. i recently saw conte talking about the oxygen readings in mikeys blood under stress when compared to other athletes. he commented that mikey is a freak of nature, his levels are multiple levels above any other athlete from any sport that he has ever tested. he said the only way to get those levels would be to breed his parents again. i believe this because i have never seen mikey breathing hard. with the current preparation and his genetic advantage, he should have no problem matching spences pace, as long as he can keep spence away from his body. i think mikey outboxes spence to a close decision, becomes p4p #1, and fights pac or danny at the end of the year.
I got mikey on a split decision, a damaged drained fighter in kell brook gave him a tough fight, kell landed some great right hands down the pipe but never followed up and admired his work too often, kell had enough power to keep errol honest and kell is not a big puncher i think mikey has similar power to kell, better skills, and overall a different level of fighter, his straight right will find spence
I’m in your boat. Garcia is 1 of my 5 fav fighters. I don’t overrate or underrate either Spence or Garcia which a lot of people on this board are one way or the other. This isn’t a blowout eitherway. I think both Garcia and Spence are two of the top 10 fighters in boxing period. Im 50/50 on this one but I slightly lean toward Spence. It wouldn’t shock me at all if Garcia wins. To me there is just to much of an unknown factor of how Garcia will do at 147. We never seen him fight at that weight. Sparring with an out of shape maidana is nowhere near the level Spence is on. If Mikey was fighting porter, Thurman, or Danny g I’d say Mikey wins 100% and I would have a better gauge on how Mikey Spence would go. As of right now I’m slight lean toward Spence because of size and physicality. If Mikey beats Spence, if I’m him I go for a big payday with pac first. If that doesn’t happen, Crawford. Any of those other fights would be a step back.
Wow I’m Surprised so many are picking Mikey. I know he’s very skilled and elite but I think Spence is the real deal. I’m Picking Spence by vicious KO
I was thinking he had zero chance earlier but now I think he can pull off the upset Still would not be shocked if Spence slaughter him by late TKO or KO
I actually don't think Spence is the kind of fighter to use his size to bully his opponent, but I think the difference in power will be key here. The body shots from the best 47'er will be relentless. Mikey hasn't ever seen anything even remotely like this. Spence will win.
Nope, Spence wins by KO. Quite a simple pick really. The skills gap isn’t as large as the size gap. People making out as if all Spence has is the size are crazy
Agreed. Thurman, Porter and Garcia are all good fighters there’s a reason why they don’t want that Spence smoke. It’s a guaranteed L and they know it!
yea, pac would be too perfect. pacs last great fight and farewell against the p4p #1, 5 division champion at his absolute peak, in a fight of the year. thats how great warriors should pass the torch. this fight would break the million sales easy. all mikey has to do is outbox spence, and remain on his feet for 12... tall order.
As a fan of both guys, my gut can't help but feel like Spence will cut him in half with his body work at some point beyond round six. Mikey will get a tremendous amount of credit from me for pulling off the upset.
