Anybody else impressed with Marquez despite being dominated?

Yeah. He was good. Just fighting a guy he had no business fighing. Bigger, younger, strongwer, faster, and didn't even have 2 make weight..

Even with all of the advantages may's fruity ass couldn't get the knockout. I think he peed a little when shane came into the ring.

He can prob beat shane though. He will make shane come in at 140 & wear ankle weight, while he will be allowed headgear. He'll aalso weight until shane is 40+

 

I liked his determination and never give up attitude but in rest he was poor.

 

Floyd even said himself during the press conference, Marquez was too cagey. He tried to take him out, but Marquez was good at predicting Floyds attack. Only when Floyd did some "tricky ****" as Roger Mayweather said, did he land his big punches.

Technically Marquez was near Floyds equal I thought. Just outclassed athletically.

Not really, he actually performed to my expectations which maybe explains why I wasn't able to find anything that really surprised me or impressed me.

worst performance from JMM to date. He did what he could, he will still be a force back at 135 maybe even 140.

i really didn't know what to expect for marquez coming in at welter. all i knew is if he retained his speed and reflex he would at least took 2, 3 or at most 4 rounds from floyd. but we already knew that he was already on the slide even at 135 judging on how he struggled against casa and juan diaz first before eventually stopping them. also this was not discussed much but jmm was also disadvantaged in style. a fighter like chris john who likes to fight off the backfoot gave jmm that much trouble, how more if it was someone like floyd?

Indeed. This was not a good situation for Marquez in every possible way.

true and we know jmm is a much better fighter than ricky. styles makes fights and many other factors affect it. it doesn't mean that if floyd shutdown the lightweight champ, he could do all this things to pac, cotto or mosley.

 

This is precisely what some of us are essentially saying. ^ Hatton's footspeed and greater mobility made all the difference for him. Marquez was completely stuck in the mud, and if you're completely stuck in the mud against an athlete like Floyd Mayweather this is going to be the result.
