the new guys you see them get madder and madder haha I go hard most of the time against guys on my level and guys who are fighting they need to learn so i batter the crap out of them in a constructive way. Today in sparring i went pretty hard with this guy same size and weight as me abit older and had way longer arms but same height. The first round we start of eay jabbing, then we start putting together combos and i fall short afew times then bang i get hit with a right hand on the temple, hurt like a ***** i was stunned for a second, but i just started throwing combos then moving.
Can't say I have :/ I've had my head snapped back though... but... other than that haven't been hurt yet
i've hit the mat once, from a straight right i got caught with from a funky angle. got up right away but was dizzy as hell for a few seconds after that. took about 30 seconds after that to feel good on my feet again.
i took a knee once in sparring from a body shot thats about it though..........we dont try kill eachother,we use sparring as a way to improve our technique.we dont want to injure eachother. its pointless if you go to hard,it will turn into a war and you will learn nothing.
No, we just do light sparring at my gym for some reason. I took way too many shots my first couple times in sparring but things are getting better now, last time I sparred I didn't feel hurt or bad afterwards which is a good thing. I've taken two bad shots of note so far by the same guy. The first time I sparred I walked into a big right hand that made my nose bleed all over. The second one was in defensive sparring when my partner went too hard and hit me with a right hook on he side of the head, that rattled my head.
Yeah I got knocked out about 2 months ago, first time I'd been down and been sparring for 2 years but I went down very hard. The tempo raised, both of us were in and out, exchanging and apparently I came forward with a lazy jab and boom, next thing I knew I was looking at the floor. Took a few seconds and got straight back up, felt fine but rightfully that was the end of my sparring for the night and a lesson learned. They said I shook it off well and got a good chin but better happening in there than on our show. I've felt worse when I've been hit and felt on wobbly legs for around 15 seconds or so but these were from 2 good, experienced guys. I'm still confident and got my first fight on Friday!
i got dropped for the one and only time in a ring ,whilst sparring . he hit me with a right cross,my arse touched the deck and i was straight up again. i was hurt a few times, sparring, by body shots,**** me they hurt.i can still feel them 30 years later.
If you get put down by a shot and its not on the chin or temple and you jump right back up and your not hurt or stunned, is that down to bad balance or a flash knockdown?
Last week, I almost went down for the first time. Got caught with a nice right hand counter while I was throwing a left hook to the body (or something. I really don't remember). Caught me flush on the left side of my jaw, lifted my left foot off the ground and made me almost spin all the way around to my right. I took two steps back, shook it off and went back after the guy...much more cautiously. Wasn't dizzy or anything, but it really did almost take my legs out from under me for a few seconds. Luckily the guy weighed 30lb less than me. If he was my size, it might have been lights out.
only been hurt once in sparring and that was my coach. caught me a right hand right on the chin and my legs had a brief wobble. was sort of confused and dazed when i drove home after. this coach is a good coach in many respects but still fights himself and does dish out beatings in the ring. seen him drop amateurs with no fights in sparring. and this guy is a pro world kickboxing champion who doesnt show mercy! very uinorthodiox and difficult to defend against. defo toughens you up tho as nothing as bad as fighting him haha! got knocked out in my second amateur fight,. thrid round and i was exhausted, guy had set a hard pace, i wasnt fit enough and hadnt trained enough and he was teeing off on me. bobbed up into a right hand i dint see,. unfortunately my head guard had been slipping sdown over my eyes all fight so chin up to. went down for about 15 seconds bvefore i got up wobbly. no memory for about 20 mins after and no memory of what immeduiately led up to it. not good! apparently was grade 2 concussion. but apart from that never wobbled or hurt and been cracked nmany a time flush. chin is key imo to secure the knockout and mine is normally well tucked away!
closest i ever been was when i was sparring with this pro and he got me with a good right hook behind the ears, it made me woozy for a while but i recovered quickly
