Been watching this sport for a long time. Since the Pancrase days in fact when it used to come on randomly on EuroSport with Steven Holdsworth providing a commentary on fights he didn't even get. Variety is the spice of life. When the only meal on the menu is "UFC" it's bound to get stale. The UFC is reaching critical mass and Dana knows it.
Exactly why I don't understand why he doesn't allow past fights on the internet to attract new fans. I hate Dana White such a ****.
Because Dana wants his quarter. The UFC and MMA as a whole became VERY popular of the back of those videos that used to be all over video sites. Short sighted Dana doesn't see it that way though now that the UFC is the last man standing.
its so true... With a Ufc monopoly in sight, (in the US) we get will only get tossed a free fight here and there. Im still waiting to torrent 131, even though Im mostly disinterested.
Its good that you dont let it bother you though I agree though ive lost alot of interest in it mainly due to how hard it is to watch (old or live) and this new safety first style. Im not saying every fight has to be on the feet with two fighters throwing bombs but its an entertainment sport and i dont wanna see a man lay ontop of another man for 15minutes. I watch it to be entertained and LnP isnt entertaining.
I haven't been watching MMA for that long, just for two years but I have watched a lot of MMA in that time and I agree. by the way is Steven Holdsworth the guy who still commentates the combat sports for Eurosport?
It really is dumb for the UFC to try to stop people from watching fights that are over a couple years old. They should just allow you to access them through their own website, and make some money of the ads.
Well you missed out on alot. Fights were way way more exciting. With everyone under one promotion naturally fighters have alot to loose if they "loose". MMA's golden era has already come and gone.
I know I missed out on some reat fights but I've gone back and watched loads of old fights and still watch them. I am very sad that I missed the glory days of Pride, At least DREAM is back and there is a new JMMA promotion starting up that has been rumoured to have HUGE financial backing. I hope the rumour is true and we see another great JMMA promotion.
I think ill always be interested its just my level of interest will fluctuate, personally i feel a bit let down i thought the sport wouldve progressed more(in a different way) than it has over the last few years.
