Steve Forbes is only an inch taller than Pac. Freddie Roach said Ivan Calendron sparred Oscar when Freddie trained him for Floyd and said Oscar struggles with smaller guys and that's why Freddie is so confident of the outcome.
atsch Where is this coming from suddenly that Pacquiao has turned into this fantastic boxer? The guy is a puncher, he is an excellent puncher, a HOF puncher, but still a puncher. He has never been a boxer. Sure he can jab, but Pacquiao's strength is throwing fast powershot and combos, not jab-jab cross. He doesnt set traps, he doesnt have great ring generalship (as anyone who saw the Maquez fight knows) and a good boxer naturally causes him problems. First Morales fight, got outboxed. 2nd MAB fight, won a clear decision but wasnt as effective due to MABS boxing. 2nd Marquez fight, got ****ING outboxed and countered (won a decision I thought should have gone the other way) and was frusterated the whole time by Marquez. And lets not forget power. He has been hurt by Morales, MAB, and Marquez, all good punchers. He doesnt have an iron chin, and has been caught and stunned multiple times in his career. He has a strong will for certain, and can take a good punch, but he is no George Foreman, and he is up against a fighter who punches harder than anyone he has ever faced and could still KO most any fighter at 147 barring some of the elite guys. This just isnt competitive. Even if Pacquiao can add weight, his speed is not going to carry over. Supposedly he enters the ring at 145, dehydrating 12 to 15 pounds depending. So how is putting on more weight going to help him? He is already ripped, and bulkly muscles dont do anything in boxing but weigh a fighter down and lessen his stamina. And even if he does carry his power and speed, does anyone really believe he hits harder than Trinidad, or Mosley, or Vargas. Hell, Oscar has taken right hands from Bernard Hopkins and not gone down, how the **** does anyone really believe that Pacquiao can hurt him? Pacman is getting KTFO, and I am serious, I mean Knocked The **** OUT. He is just going to be cracked with punch after punch and he is going to feel all of it, and then get ****ing decked with a left hook and spin like a top and just drop, and its going to be one of those gruesome highlight KOs where you are impressed but scared for the guy at the same time. Either that or he just takes an ungodly amount of punishment in a one sided shutout before Roach saves him from unnecessary brain damage.
I honestly dont believe that Roach thinks that Pac can beat DLH....... ......a few days back when it looked like the DLH-Pac negotiations would fall through, in fact they had fallen through......Roach was quoted as saying that he thought that a 65-35 split or even less than that would be fair.....then Roach brought up an argument that Pac would make a bundle even after that split, if the fight sold 2 million buys. Roach actually believes the fight will do close to Mayweather-DLH numbers. I think he's in for a rude awakening as the fight will do half that much if they're lucky. I think Arum, Roach, Pac and co....are counting that the fight will do mega-numbers like the Mayweather fight did, and thus the reason that they're going through with it.
this fight is going to do Mega Numbers. I dont know how familiar you are with Filipinos, but I live in San Francisco, which is right next to a city called Daly city which is around 65% Filipino, and many of my friends and my godkids are Filipino, so I am intimately familiar with the people. I'll tell you that basically the entire Filipino population in the world, they are all Pacquiao fans, for many of them he is the only boxer they follow and is he an honestly quasi religious figure in the Filipines. And however much the fight costs, you can bet every Pinoy in the world is going to find some way to watch it. So I expect it pull at least 1 million buys minimum
i was amazed that this news got into the front page of the leading broadsheet here in the P.I. i expect this fight to be the biggest boxing event in the country ever. This content is protected photo courtesy of enzo
You must not be familiar with filipino americans, as a lot of them don't know who pac is. I agree that pretty much every filipino from the island knows who pacman is.
it's not everyday that they will put in front page any boxing or sports news. for this to get into the first page means this is a big event in the making at least in the country.
1 million buys I can see, but its a far cry from the numbers I believe Roach is expecting, which is Mayweather-DLH numbers in excess of 2 million.
Don't be angry that pac has the balls to face hoya, whereas jmm has the balls to face chris john for peanuts...which he lost unfortunately.:rofl :rofl :rofl
This is hoya's farewell fight, i can expect all the middleaged women and homos as well would march just to see their poster boy on his farewell fight. Not to metion his own fanbase and rich pinoys wo can afford ppv's. So this might generate more than 1m, imo.
Where I live a large number of the Filipinos tend to be recent immigrants and/or are only 2nd generation, so Pacquiao is pretty much ubiquitously known here. Perhaps it is different in other places where there is less connection with the Islands.
