Anyone else think Algieri's style would give Marquez problems?

I don't think so. Algerie's style is not as high level as Bradley and Floyd, p4p #1 and p4p #3-4.

Problems? Sure, but can he pull off a victory? :think He would have improve quite a bit in a short period of time.

So, Marquez only got beat by the best of the best and a featherfisted champion with pretty big flaws suddenly can beat him. The only reason Provodnikov gave Bradley problems is that Tim was willing to exchange to prove that he can go toe to toe. Provodnikov simply isn't that polished and doesn't fight smart.

Agreed. Although I do think Marquez would beat Provo, but yes, Marquez does struggle when he is forced to come forward.

Yes, he would because he is a mover. He has to be tracked down and that is not easy for shorter fighters. So, even though I do not consider Algieri to be a particularly talented fighter he definitely has the ability to frustrate shorter fighters.

...which is why I consider the Alvarado and Fedchenko bouts so informative here; each one represents half the pieces of the puzzle Algieri forms. Against them Marquez won 23 rounds of 24...and had both in spots of serious trouble, and neither is considered fragile (while both are naturally much bigger men, comparable in size with Algieri)

He's pretty slick for a white guy. Just slick enough to maybe beat Marquez as well.

He could easily do the same thing as Bradley, do just enough to win each round. The kid is really good at slipping and rolling with punches, he did almost the exact same thing that Bradley did with Provo but with less damage. That style no matter who it is, is hard for Marquez just like his style is hard for Manny.

you have a point. macne would trade when pressed.

id still favor macne with heredia, them trading blows. but ruslan is tough as a bear. maybe who lands the damaging lblow fiirst.

i think algieri would give marquez problems, height, reach, age advantage marquez would have the power and counter punching advantage. i would give marquez a slight advantage ove algieri if it wasn't for the height, reach and ability to fight in survival mode.

prov would give marquez problems too, possibly knock him out. prov has a punchers chance against most fighters, and is an exciting fighter to watch, if he could be polished a little more and use the body attack better to set up his upstairs attack he would be a beast!!!! too bad ruslan couldn't finish off algieri, i would have loved to watch ruslan vs marquez.

correct me if i'm wrong but alvarado is 5 9 fedchenko is 5 6. algieri is 5 11 marquez is 5 7. do u think algieris height and reach advantage combined with his survival mode instincts will give marquez problems?
