Anyone else think Werdum is the #5 heavyweight in the world?

    As things stand:

    1 Cigano
    2/3 Cain/Cormier
    4 Overeem
    5 Werdum

I think Werdum has looked very good since he left the UFC last time. In particular, for me his win over Roy Nelson was more dominant and impressive than even Junior's was. In that fight, Werdum showed he can land strikes and knees with as much power and venom as anyone. Add in his ground game and his natural size/strength, and I think he is a legit threat to any fighter out there. I'm very very interested to see his next couple of fights, as I think he could be a serious title challenger soon.

Right now, I think he'd beat Barnett, destroy Mir and Struve and Nog and Hunt and Carwin and Browne and Bigfoot, and anyone else other than the top four.

    Thoughts? :bbb

Id have him at no 2. Cormier has all the potential in the world, but 3 is a bit high for me atm. On ability alone absolutely though

    Id have it

    1) JDS
    2) Werdum
    3) Reem
    4) Cain
    5) Cormier

It's a strong top 5. Should be some great fights to come. Pity Cain and Cormier can't fight each other.

yeah, but who knows, but AKA guys have a habit of not fighting each other

Best fight on that list involves Reem though imo, the Cain and JDS fights are two Im looking forward to

    Assuming he can **** clean

For me, the most interesting fight of all is Cigano vs Cormier.

Cigano's takedown defence is excellent - but is it good enough to cope with a guy who threw Josh Barnett around like an empty tracksuit? Good enough to cope with Cain Velasquez's wrestling coach?!

Cormier's boxing is excellent - but is it good enough to cope with the guy who knocked out Cain Velasquez with a single shot? Good enough to cope with the best boxer the UFC hw division has ever seen?!

I think we'll get to see this even if Cain beats JDS, since Cain and Cormier won't fight. It'll be a great match-up.

You think Werdum might be Cormier's first fight in the UFC? Can't really see who else it could be, no point in coming off dominations of Bigfoot and Barnett to then fight someone like Cheick Kongo or Matt Mitrione. Or maybe Dana will give Overeem to Cormier, to punish Overeem for messing them about. Reem would not enjoy that fight one bit IMO.

I thought maybe Werdum would be back in SF for Cormiers last fight there tbh, think there's a good chance that may happen. Winner gets a shot at Junior

Yeah, that's a good call. With Reem out and the JDS vs Cain fight definitely happening, this seems like the logical next eliminator. What sort of chance do you give Werdum in a fight with Cormier?

This is what the zuffa should do, and it is a likely scenario.

Lure Werdum back to Strikeforce with a promised rematch against JDS if he beats Cormier.
