Anyone find it ridicolous how active of a fighter Ali was? Why did he fight so much?

    Linked before but worth linking again, Ali sparring in 1965 in prep for the Liston rematch - see below.

    So relaxed, fluid, smooth as butter and lightning fast but we also get a very early glimpse of Ali pointedly grappling and playing a bit of the rope a dope.

    Even though what we do see here is GOLD, I wish Ali displayed his offensive abilities more continuously throughout the session - but that was Ali, doing it exactly as he saw fit in sparring.

    Notwithstanding its practical application, I never found the holding and covering up and laying on the ropes pleasing to the eye at all.

    No, it wasn't very pleasing. And more refs should have been like Mercante and Padilla against him.

    Its's a cool thing that he started practice these things years before he'd slower enough to really need them, though.
