mmmm.. I think the situation really was a bit more like this...

Tyson wasn't allowed to even begin negotiations for a Witherspoon fight, because Mister King was still very bitter at Tim about a lot of underlying issues.. Tim was indeed always a tricky customer , but Tyson would have faced Godzilla if King had agreed a decent purse split..

Witherspoon was announced as having tested positive for marijuana following the Smith fight, but then a couple of days later it was corrected. That was suspicious.

He tested positive after the Tubbs fight, again for marijuana.

I've never heard anything about him and cocaine though.

I think the fight was on the level. The fact that Witherspoon didn't really care about losing, and never had his mind on the fight, doesn't mean his loss was pre-planned deliberate.

Also, if it was true that he lost on purpose I'm more inclined to believe his motivation would be to become free of King, not because King told him to. I dont see what King's motive would be to prefer Smith-Tyson, seeing as Witherspoon was the guy who he had most contractual control over.

Smith was actually the one training for Green.......I think remembering Mitch was really ticked about it at the time.
