I was 9 at a private christian school in the summer of 1970. The kids name was Andre. He was a year younger than me and hit hard with fast hands. All I could do was cover up and it just seemed that I just couldn't get any punches off. I got whooped.

13-14, Put on a Defensive masterclass, got hit 5-10 times all together in 4 rounds. Although i landed about 10 also but i only threw about 20, Couldn't pull the trigger so decided to make it a fight with least possible action. Fought a bit like McCloskey against Khan but more on even terms

I was 15. I had no idea what I was doing and I was just wildly swinging punches at another teenager who was doing the same. I somehow landed a left hook, bloodied his nose and knocked him down. Then he quit and never came back.

You are the first poster to come on here and be negative and not mention anything about your first sparring session. I wonder why that is?

It was 1998. I was 12 I think, did pretty good and boxed for the next 7 years. Best times of my life thus far.

RJJFAN, I would pay to read you write!:smoke

Me: have 'sparred' previously in *cough* *cough* martial arts but never had a day's boxing training before...so officially, first time I ever sparred was with my university buddy at the ripe old age of 20. My first and only time - I have the kind of facial reaction  where my eyes water from jabs - not exactly encouraging, and might as well be a red rag to a bull for my opponent.
Shame tho', I probably could've had a Homer Simpson/Margarito career - I once had four guys pummel me with their motorcycle helmets and I still retained consciousness thoughout; aside from micro-second blackouts and bright flashes. Hurt like hell for the next 2 weeks tho.

PS. Commiserations on the undeserved extra punch that floored Roy.

Yes I was 14 and the kid I sparred with was 16 ..Neither of us had any prior experience ..We met in the middle and swang wildley ..I caught him with two jabs that moved his head gear wich caused a cut by his eye ,he back off I charged we wrappped each other up and didn't do much after that since we were both winded ..That whole ordeal must of lasted 40 seconds but it felt like forever ..

Pretty much, all newbies try to go hard. It's a process really to humble you
