The all-time standard for hometown judging still goes to The Americans in LA.

I didn't think it was too bad an olympics overall for the judging.

It seems that we are pretty split on here about the result so I cannot see how people can call it a robbery.

    Right. Sorry. I apologize.

I'm sorry if Healy isn't getting the response he wanted from this thread but the very fact there is a fair bit of disagreement over the result tells you it probably wasn't a 'robbery'. There were a few points not scored for Egan but there was also a few for the Chinese fighter that didn't register, they also hadn't been scoring for body shots for most the The Games so why complain about that now?

Jim Neilly had his 'conspiracy' head on from the first bell and was determined to call the fight in a way to proved himself correct. He never once mentioned the shots the Chinese lad should have scored but didn't get but managed to point out aleast one that Egan didn't even land a punch.

fair does, i went over the top im sure, but i felt strongly throughout the olympics that the judges were biased towards the chinese, the young lad murray, when he thought a chinese lad he landed several times and also didnt score, its hard to accept it was a robbery because had egan had his points scored, the fight could have still gone to the chinese and would have been close, but 11-7 too me was an appauling decision

He was definitely not scored on some good shots, but the Chinese lad was not scored on a couple of good shots himself...It was a tight one this Egan did the pressing and got caught out for it.....bad scoring right result

If a Great Britain fighter got that decision there would be uproar in this forum and you know it, lets not beat around the bush here. If that happened one of your own you would feel hard done by!

I walked out of the room for 20 seconds in the 4th because of the way the Chinese lad got point, my stomach couldnt bear that shite any longer!

Its nothing to do with body shots either, everyone knows they dont score!

Ch!nk- gets 5 points that he didnt deserve
Egan- doesnt get 4-5 points he did deserve

When you Gaz, Wilson and Sleaze Nation are the main 3 saying it was a good decision well it doesnt surprise me, but i can imagine were it to happen to say Frankie Gavin against a Chinese, all hell would break loose here!

I think you're right that 11-7 was too wide but given that body shots don't seem to count (I know its wrong but thats the way it seems to be) I thought that Egan could have had an extra point in the 3rd and an extra 2 in the 4th but the Chinese lad missed out on one in both the 2nd and the 3rd rounds (going from memory). It was a close fight but not a robbery IMHO.

Oh, come it with the put upon Celt. If that was a GB fighter the most I'd have said is that I thought the won a close decision but didn't get it. It was just one of those fights and def. not a robbery.

I've no axe to grind against Egan, I wanted the lad to win but he didn't. Sorry.

Id have to watch it again also, although il probably put my fist through the screen!

We all know body shots dont count so may aswell not complain there!

Il have to watch it again, if my opinion changes il say so!

The second point the Chinese lad got still sticks out in my mind, should have went Egans ways

GazOC is right. The judging for these Games was better than usual, with few "iffy" decisions. This was not one of them, and Jim Neilly commentated like a complete tit.

From a completely neutral point of view I would say the Chinese fighter just about nicked it. The scores may not reflect exactly what happened, but the right man won.

I totally agree...the implication is that this fight was so one sided a travesty had taken place, but that is so wrong!
