Anyone Think Fury - Wilder was Boring?

You say your list goes back a few years. Do you mean literally a few? As in, back to December 2015? Because all the other fights you have mentioned are from the past three years...

None from further back?

 

Why are 90% of the boxing world calling it a classic? Do you think together we all made it up? Obviously it's one of those fights you had to witness live to experience the greatness in it. Wondering could Fury keep up his excellent boxing over 12 rounds, waiting for Wilder to KO him any second. The suspense was fantastic.

But still, there's plenty of great boxing from Fury, a knockdown by wilder and one of the best rounds of the year including another very heavy knockdown to make a re-run fun to watch.

 

I found AJ - Povetkin far more interesting than Fury vs. Wilder. Let's be honest, it was a lot of empty swinging and not much happening for 60 minutes. But to each his own.

I guess most knew when its Fury in the ring it will be slow and boring so the bar was set very low.

I'll be honest and say the fact you have Joshua as you avatar suggests to me you might not be the most impartial poster when it comes to this...

But for me I was never in any doubt Joshua would win against Povetkin and so there wasn't much excitement to be had in watching him grind his opponent down for what I expected to be a KO win.

 

I'm relieved, for a man that don't do lists, you've pulled a corker outta the hat.

Last night wasn't a classic boxing match, but it was classic sporting theatre, so it's impact would have been WAY diluted by watching the repeat and knowing what was going to happen.

I felt Fury was totally dictating the fight but that control could have been derailed at any moment by one punch - and it nearly was. This knife edge element is what made it a great bout in my eyes, and Fury's backstory added flavour to the mix.

All great fights tend to have a dramatic conclusion and the Fury KD and his subsequent and apparent resurrection was a tremendous final act...

 

I was enthralled from start to finish. Great fight , but as many have said already , it had to be witnessed in the moment. Watching the replay knowing the result wouldn't produce the same edge of your seat excitement factor

 

What made its gift good was what could happen at any time. Fury was clowning and Wilder looked bamboozled at times but after that first knockdown it was gripping stuff.

I'm still astonished Fury got up in the 12th. In fact it could be argued for one of the top 10 rounds of boxing ever.

 

It was an incredible fight, boxing masterclass by Fury, the number of smiles his upper body movement brought me last night... Wilder on the other hand always dangerous so you always felt tense no matter how well Fury did, one punch can end it all, it was a fascinating fight and round 12 was one of the very best rounds in boxing history.

 

I like Joshua but not as much as you think I do. He's the legit king of the hill IMO so I have to pay my respect to him. I'll change allegiance as soon as he gets beat.

Now about AJ vs. Povetkin, I did have my doubts during the first 2-3 rounds. Povetkin looked real good, better than expected (or AJ worse than expected, depending on one's POV), until he gassed out due to old age. So not at all as clear cut and one-sided as you make it out to be.

 

I was intrigued by the outcome but was convinced beforehand it was gonna be a boring fight. I was pleasantly surprised , was entertained from start to finish! Think Fury made sure it was a great fight and he made a fan of me last night, really hope the rematch happens over here.
