Co-main will be just as intriguing as the main imo, Prodiknov looked to hit hard on FNF last week, and I think Alvarado needs to make a step up soon, he beat Prescott last time out, but I had Prescott ahead when he got stopped. Really good pair of fights, I really like Gamboa as well. I'd take Prodiknov to win and Gamboa to beat a drained looking Rios.
I see Gamboa beating Rios up. I don't care whether he bought a conditioner in, he looked average in his last fight. His punches didn't even seem that hard and there were times where it was John's punches that were flustering Rios, not the other way round, shockingly. Gamboa T/KO.
Gamboa's got an abnormal advantage in speed, all well and good, but I feel people are kind of ignoring Gamboa's tendency to coast during the fight and be content with allowing his athleticism/reflexes to ensure he doesn't get caught while being pretty minimalist in his own work. Unless he takes he takes his man out early, he always does it, without fail. That alone makes me sure that this won't be one-sided in either man's favour. He's looked pretty uninspiring against Ponce, Salido(arguably his two best opponents to date), and Barros for a sizable portion of each fight because of it, Rios' physical dimensions alone ensure Gamboa will have a rougher ride in this scenario than he did against that trio.
Rios Gamboa is a FANTASTIC fight !!!! I wonder if the WBO will mandate this for there vacant title ??? :hey
Good God is this is a serious post ??? :huh He's one of the best technical inside fighters in the game today
I dont hink Prodiknow looked that great, infact seemed to struggle against a smaller opposotion and was very easy to hit.
Gamboa will take Rios apart from the outside with blistering speed and power. Rios footwork is too slow. I rate Rios highly but this is not going to be close. Gamboa will be nailing him with shots repeatedly
I just can't see Gamboa winning this. He has been dropped before, and as Pab said, he tends to lose focus. Rios has chased down good boxers in Acosta and Peterson before, and I can see it happening again. He has good power, and will make Gomboa work for every minute of every round. Gamboa takes an early lead, but Rios catches up with him late IMO
Provodnikov carried Torres for a while in that fight for me, and then put him away well. Granted it wasn't the greatest opposition, but I still think he'll have enough for Alvarado, who I don't think is that great and should have stepped up his own competition a while ago as well. Either he isn't that good or he's been moved along at a snails pace by his promoter and the way he looked against Prescott before Prescott gassed leads me to believe its the former. I could be totally wrong as I've only seen Provodnikov fight once and Alvarado twice. For me its a good, exciting co-main at very least.
This will be classic bigger man stalking smaller man stuff , Gamboa hasnt been able to shift fighters like Barros and Salido , what makes you think he has the pop to stop Rios in his tracks ??? I will grant you that Gamboa has the obvious advantage in almost every aspect of boxing , but Rios is an animal , and it will take more than what Gamboa has to stop him IMO , dont get me wrong here , im not saying Gamboa is incapable of beating Rios , not at all , im saying Rios is gonna take him places Gamboa hasnt been in the paid ranks , and i for one will be watching very keenly on how he deals with a man the size of Rios ...........
Kessler-Stieglitz will more than likely be on Boxnation on this date as well. Nice night of boxing all round.
