I'm not saying the fight shouldn't happen I just think it's a bit of lose/lose situation for Crawford.

If Crawford vacates his belt fans will accuse him of ducking, and if he beats Ennis then as I said fans will claim Ennis was overrated/unproven.

In an ideal world it would be nice if Ennis could get 1 or 2 impressive wins over known names like Ortiz, Thurman, or Ugas. Just so the fight has a bit more oomph to it as Ennis would be more proven.

Crawford moved 3 divisions and unified titles, then knocked over contenders one after another. Not comparable

Bud would be the heavy favorite after that last performance. He looked too sophisticated for Boots, the defense was too tight, and he doesn't have a lot of miles on the odometer so you can't read much into his age.

The only thing is the style. Porter and Spence are both come forward, Boots mixes it but it's hard for me to see him winning a chess match against the more experienced guy.

Crawford wants Charlo at 154 if the Spence rematch don't happen.

I agree that Boots should fight Thurman.

Just last week and every week before that for the past year, people were saying Ennis deserved his shot. Now, it’s a complete turnaround with people saying he needs to prove himself more. Boxing fans are freaking weird.

The whole "they need to impress me to get a shot" thing always rings false to me.

What it really means is "losing this fight is too high risk for the relative reward and in being very careful with my career."

Lipinets (an actual former world champion and someone that was also ranked in the top 10 at WW at the time). Then he melted the person that had a disputed draw against Lipinets in 2 rounds. Then he dominated and stopped the man that beat up the other coming up prospect that was being steered into a collision with him so don't be silly, every single one of his peers at his weight acknowledge he's a threat.

Also let's be honest, who did Terence Crawford fight before he finally got a world title shot against Ricky Burns? Shopworn Bredis Prescott and freakin Klimov (and the crowd was booing that fight). So everyone can be painted with the same exact brush if you really nitpick it.

Personally as a fan of both, I don't have a problem with Crawford not fighting Boots if his plan is to move up. Crawford accomplished a HOF/ATG win 5 days ago so if he's looking for another weight class, I will continue to watch and enjoy him. However if he doesn't move up there isn't another person at WW he should be fighting.

You sound like Vargas promoters when they rush him against Tito Vargas was never the same after that fight, but would love for Crawford to get him and ruin him

It's a good fight and he is the IBF mandatory but it isn't a lucrative fight and that's why it doesn't interest Crawford. He's near the end of his career, probably only has a handful of fights left and needs to make them count in terms of his bank balance. So it's understandable that he would want to look at more lucrative fights and call out bigger names that will provide the bigger paydays.

I'm sure if Bud's IBF mandatory is mandated he'll take the fight and beat Ennis.

Today things are so weird in boxing. You get great great credit for winning all four belts, but who could or would defend them to retain them? Its like getting four jobs. Who can maitain four jobs? Back to boots, dude is scary. Kind of reminds me of a Roy Jones kind of talent. Ortiz is scary too, but he has very serious health problems. Boots is more high risk low reward to be honest. If there was only one belt and Bud was the champ, then he would have to fight boots soon. I guess its a 2 edge sword, more belts are a pain, but also leaves champs with more places to hide if needed. I would rather see bud beat Mell Charlo and become three time undiputed than fight the extremely dangerous boots right off the bat.
