Interesting opinion. I, personally, feel the 70's and 80's were full of cracking fighters and I don't see a progression, on the whole, from then. Of course, there are great fighters who I thing belong in any era. I watched the Barrera-Morales fights today, and I think they are an example of this.
Hw's are different the 70's didn't have a 6'9 quick footed and hand fighter..fury isn't excellent he is just good at everything that would cause headaches for anyone in the 70's. the 80's brought in the era of taller quicker footed better defensive fighters. the 90's brought in the super Hw punchers with better skills. Current is debatable.
Sorry, I was referring to weights other than Heavyweight. Do you give Fury a chance with Vlad? I can't work Fury out: sometimes he looks awful, then he does something really good! He's definitely a nut case, but I have a feeling he will have a go in the fight?
I suspect 100% would not have, they would be too young! Flippancy aside the Ali's, Frazier's and Foreman's fought each other and at least one top contender (and top 40 all time) as well as 'feasting on the feeble'; Wlad has for two very different reasons not fought the two men that could have defined his career; Lennox and Vitali...
Light Heavyweight in two years will have Andre Ward, Sergey Kovalev, Artur Beterbiev, Egor Mekhontsev and Oleksandr Gvozdyk. This makes the LHW division a golden era.
fury has a slight chance however...one has to be realistic ..wlad is 6'6 and fought big HW's ....fury has not..and I think his attitude with better fighters is his down fall...Wlad is impeccable right NOW..fury thinks hes great but hes not..Wlad by midway K.o...but again fury mis not fighting 6'2 guys who brawl..thats my point.Fury would give Ali a very good fight just cause.
