I think Maloney previously has been open to criticism because he had main events that were either Booth or Munroe in British title fights but weren't that exciting as spectacles and then Price/Dallas v Latvian on the undercard. I think he has done well in moving his stable along whilst also putting his fighters in good domestic dustups and providing a good undercard fight.
I'd give him another chance but limit his shows to let other promotions have a look in. He's pissed about way too much and should join the que.
As boxing fans we settle for these kinds of fights too often. Fights where the home fighter is 1/10 at least. If Smedley had had even one tough fight before Wright he might have had a chance. As it was he was totally outclassed from the first bell and only got back into it when Wright got lazy. Like I said before look at Spencer Fearon's card on June 18 (I admit I'm his mate so obviously biased), but you've got a guy like Alex Dilmaghani fighting Micky Coveney in his 6th fight and this looks like its the first fight of the night! There's no way Maloney's or Hatton's shows compare fight for fight. Maloney's headliners have got better (I think more due to Sky pressure than fans) but the Otieno fight was a **** main event and just a filling fight until McDonnell-Hall.
