Are Many Haye Fans Underestimating Wlad??

I was posting a couple of vids showing Haye's sloppy finishing, and comparing them with a couple of recent examples of other fighters getting the job done on a hurt opponent, without leaving themselves wide open to being nailed, or gassed if the opponent survived.

If Haye does manage to hurt Klitschko I'd imagine that's what Wlad will want him to do. Makes it much easier to grab on.

 

I think most Wlad haters and some Haye fans make two mistakes:

1. They keep referring to Wlad's losses, which have very little to do with this fight. haye can't be a punching bag like Purrity and Brewster and outlast Wlad, he would go and stay down from the shots these two were taking. Wlad trains and prepares for Haye's style, which he didn't do for Sanders, also Sanders best punch was a short right hand which had a short distance to travel since he was a southpaw. Haye throws fast but looping shots that Wlad can see coming.

2. They assume Haye will maximize his athletic potential and fight the flawless fight. He might, but he has never done that. Wlad on his worst night was beaten by lesser fighters, yes, as was Haye against Thompson. The difference is, on his best night, Wlad was untouchable against Byrd, Chagaev, Chambers, while the best of Haye was in competitive fights and got hit by Fragomeni, Mormeck, Ruiz. Haye was able to get away with world - class attribute mixed with sloppy fighting against those opponents, he can't be sloppy against Wlad. Neither of them is a naturally born fighter. Wlad developed himself over many fights and some setbacks, change of trainer, whatever he had to do. Haye fought very little for his age and nobody nearly as capable as Wlad, who in turn has faced several fighters that could give Haye a tough fight. Haye fans keep rambling on about how Haye's speed and power will destroy Wlad while ignoring how huge the step up in competition is for Haye.

 

Personally I think Wlad should go at Haye like he went at his opponents in his early career. I don't think for one moment that Haye could weather the storm long enough for Wlad to tire. I believe if Wlad uses his experience, physical attributes and boxing ability to put Haye on the back foot from the first round then he's got him. I don't even think that he would be putting himself on the line by making it a 'fight' if he fought aggressively from the start either. Alternatively he could (and probably will) stick to the usual gameplan and take control of the fight with little risk of being countered and hit with something big.

Haye's options... for me both of them involve a full blooded assault at some point early in the fight. Either he charges out from the first bell to try to catch Wlad cold and relies on his power and speed being too much (which is questionable), or he runs for a round or two- then goes at Wlad like a bat out of hell at some point and doesn't let up for a single second. I don't see his usual potshotting working against Wlad at all. This fight is fascinating to me from a strategic point of view, I can't wait and I doubt I'll sit down at all from the opening bell

 

Haye will only need 1 good shot to buckle Wlad...:yep He will get that opportunity to land it too...:yep I will be surprised if this fight goes beyond 4 rounds...:good

 

Its the finishing that does worry me for Haye. I wouldnt put it out of the realms of possibility that Haye wil connect and Wlad will go down. The thing is Haye's finishing is awful. He couldnt get Ruiz out of there in the 1st when he should have.

Wlad has been able to get up from all the knockdowns that he has taken so Haye is going to have to drop him 2-3 times or dish out a sustained beating of unanswered punches.

Haye will expend so much energy trying and probably failing to get Wlad out of there.

haye's finishing may not be the best....but its good enough to stop wlad.

I don't get this Haye is a bad finisher rubbish either. Other than Ruiz name me a time he has hurt a guy and not stoped them within the next 2 rounds?

Its become another Haye bashing thread from Beetson. His two example of Haye being a and finished are round where he stopped his opponent. No logic.
