The RDA/RDI or whatever they are called these days are absolutely ****ing laughable. That statement is ridiculous. Consume 60 grams of protein, train intense and let me know what that does for your LBM. Yes, you'll be 'catabolic' but it's not worth worrying about. A good video on the topic HERE
You consume a lot of protein? By the looks of your diet you consume 50, maybe 60g... That is **** all.
Yeah, eat more protein rich foods. Have eggs for breakfast, lean meat with all meals, protein shakes if you want. There's loads of ways to get a bit of extra protein.
For starters, count your protein/carbs/fat so you can quantify your intake. In regards to protein, Virus pretty much hit the nail on the head with suggestions.
Lol....funny, if you read "expert" opinions about the usefulness of protein shakes, you'll get the same variety of responses you get here too. Probably cuz the marketing for these types of products makes them out to be some magic formula for massive muscle growth, and many experts will do their best to debunk the BS marketing. Although, some go overboard and tell you these products are a waste of money and completely useless. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. And most rational arguments will tell you, there's value in protein shakes, but it's mostly convenience. Like the other posters said, try to get most protein from whole foods. I use protein shakes for the convenience factor. No magic there, but I find it helps me to stay on top of my recommended amount.
The only thing I generally disagree with is "wholefood is ALWAYS superior". Simply not true. As the above poster mentioned, people seem to think they are a magic formula, they are just a good way to get some high quality protein.
Agreed....shakes only become problematic when you start relying on them as your single source....brb micronutrient deficiency
i wonder if you stop drinking shakes for f.e. month, do you feel weaker or something on your trainings and after them? because if i start drinking them and stop because of financial problems or something, will i lack of motivation or feel weaker ? sorry for stupid question but i dont have any experience with shakes and other supplements..
Bodybuilders should drink protein shake because protein shake is good nutrition source. Boxers should also need this nutrition so they should drink protein shake for muscles. SO in my opinion protein shake is must. boot camp rushcutters bay
