I never was, and can only shake my head at this silliness. I was kind of looking forward to seeing if Ustinov could humiliate Fury with a KO on late notice. :yep
Yeah I know you've got no love lost for Fury I was a big fan before this, I'm still a fan I guess, but not as much as before......
I mean, we don't know the full scope AFAIK of his relative's medical condition (this is the uncle Hughie Fury, his old trainer - not the cousin Hughie Fury that is currently a pro boxer, right?) or the gravity of the situation to judge whether him pulling out is appropriate, but it does look pretty horrible on him to have chatted so much **** about Chisora and Haye pulling out with injuries to pull out last-minute when he is himself not actually even injured.
Still a fan. I was looking forward to him jabbing and crossing Ustinovs skull around for 12 rds, but que sera....... Looks like he's gonna have to go thru with the Chisora fight now in Oct. Maybe he'll make a small fight in between vs a journeyman to shake off the rust. One way or another he needs to get back in the ring. Today woulda been a great win over Ustinov, but with all that's occurred, he probably did the smart thing pulling out.:-(
Agreed. Yeah it's his uncle that's turned ill, not his cousin. Doesn't look good regardless. He said he would fight not matter what, only to pull out the day of the fight. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt here, but I still think he should have fought. Douglas fought and BEAT Tyson after his mom died, and plenty of other fighters have fought while dealing with family tragedies or personal issues. No excuses for pulling out on the day of the fight.....
I was very much looking forward to this fight, and Ustinov would have been a more than decent scalp of Furys resume. I doubt we'll see him in the ring before the Chisora rematch, unfortunately... This was his opportunity to get some rounds under his belt, and to showcase his skills.....
Coming from a guy who owes his name sake partially to him(it's also a Malmsteen tune I enjoy), I agree. Really disappointed in Fury. Hard to be a fan ATM..
I was a fan but realised that he is a bit of a dick quite a while ago. In a sense, I am still his fan, I always watch his fights but I always hope for him to lose by KO.
Fury is a funny guy. He has been dicked about by that fish-eyed berk and his cohorts and has been wise to his games, so he pulled out of the fight. Who cares? Let fish eyes and his sordid enterprise flounder into obscurity, as it deserves.
I'm not gonna write off everything because I'm generally entertained by Fury, but this was some serious shenanigans and he's going to be in my doghouse for awhile.
