No. Povetkin beats Arreola to a pulp. He's just too good of a boxer, and he would beat Arreola to the punch all night with superior handspeed and straighter punches. Unlike guys like Chambers and Johnson, he also has enough power to make Arreola say "oh ****", which would probably mean he would apply less pressure as the fight wore on. A boxer like Povetkin would probably land 50% of his punches on Arreola, who hasn't even learned the basic points of defense yet much less the finer ones. I guess Arreola has a puncher's chance, as Povetkin's chin hasn't really been tested yet, but that's probably about it.
Arreola would overwhelm him. Barrett is easily overwhelmed by pressure, and once Arreola turns it on, he would beat him. Arreola can be easily beaten by good boxers with good chins or defense with at least moderate handspeed. Barrett has the handspeed, but not the chin, the defense, or the boxing skill. Just my opinion though.
thanks for posting guys, the reason i asked this is because one of my friends who is a pro boxer, his management team was putting in calls to arreolas people to try and set up a fight, all i have to go on is its a possibility. i will say that i had the oppertunity to meet chris arreola when my friend fought eddie chambers, arreola was on the undercard of that fight and i cant say how nice of a guy this man was.total cool cat and i wish him the absolute best, i would love to see him succeed, just not against my boy lol
I don't think that he'll fight anyone of consequence in his next fight. To step up his opponents, he has to step up his physical fitness. He is not good enough shape to fight someone serious with a good chance of success. He'd need 5 to 6 months to properly transform his body and stay in fighting shape (that's with serious dedication to training and nutrition!). He should fight within 60 to 90 days and show up in the low 240lb range to show that he is serious.
Arreola's next fight .... whether or not he can beat his addiction to enchiladas ... I'm betting on the enchiladas. If his boxing career doesn't work out he can always get a job as the Pillsbury dough-boy or the Michelin Man, or as Thug # 2 in straight to video B movies.
Agree. Arreola seems eager to step up in competition...............as was illustrated when he was asking the crowd if they wanted to see him in with a Klit brother. It won't even take a Klit brother to beat Arreola. There are any number of decent heavies who'd take him out. How this guy is mentioned as a contender/threat to the champions is the biggest joke than I've heard in quite some time. Amazing.
