It is very debatable if Abraham would lose to Taylor. Abraham seems to fight to the level of his competition, that's why he can look mediocre in fights where he is never threatened and take out a dangerous puncher like Miranda in exciting fashio. Taylor would probably win the early rounds with his speed and that would awakene the stalker and KO puncher in Abraham. Taylor has serious ring ADD and at some point, Abraham would catch him with a big shot. Could Taylor recover from that? Maybe, maybe not.
Good points, mate! At times AA even looks mediocre against very limited journeymen as he tends to give away the early rounds of his fights no matter whom he faces in the ring. He very much relies on his impressive firepower and takes huge risks by giving away the early rounds of his fights. Australian based Arab Hamder or German based Armenian warrior Gevor would have won their fights with AA if AA hadnt knocked them out in the 11th round.
Hmmm...I watched the Grevor fight live and thought AA was ahead by round 10, so did the judges. But yes, AA does take these kinds of risks, he seems to have the mentality of Max Baer, he is so superior physically that he just doesn't take opponents seriously unless they can reallyhurt him.
Honestly I've only seen Gevor when he got knocked the **** out by AA. I was not particularly impressed, but that's only one fight, so . . . . ? I could maybe change "best opponent" in my earlier statement to "biggest name." Like I said I've only seen Gevor once. Awhile back Pavlik was on OTG. One of the things he said is that there are several very good fighters at 160, but they are not big names. Nobody knows who they are. If Gevor gets past Sturm, maybe we'll get to see more of him here in the States.
I like these kind of threads... The truth is: Pavlik wins against Abraham if he doesn't get sloppy, but in my opinion there's a good chance that Pav starts to toy with AA at some point of the fight. You absolutely cannot afford to play with AA. Even a guy like Pav with a rock solid chin has to avoid to get hit by the "Abrahammers". If Pav gets overconfident that will be his fate. If Pav fights smart and uses his height advantage the whole 12 rounds he has a good chance to win. On the other hand: If AA is in the shape he was in his last fight Pavlik wins easily. AA has to be in top shape to win, but Uli Wegner will get him in top shape - no doubt. @Hermit: After the fight against Froch I'm sure that Taylor would lose against Arthur. Even if Arthur doesn't throw hundred punches a round, all of his freakin punches hurt like hell. Ask his opponents The Abrahammers would make Taylor gas.
At 160 Taylor would out box AA everytime out. I agree that Pavlik has to fight smart and not toy with Arthur. However, if KP does do the right thing, and avoid getting careless, the fight will not go 12. You go 12 rounds with Pavlik by using hand speed, reach, and smart movement to keep the fight in the middle of the ring. Arthur does not have the needed skills or attributes to do that. At some point AA will suffer the same fate as all the other guys who got trapped on the ropes.
When will the fight happen then? C'mon Boo, I know, you've to be Pav's lost brother or a member of his management team, so let the f... fight happen!
Very good stuff, but I´m afraid, most of the guys in this thread don`t understand any german. The way he fights is spectacular and outside the ring he`s a funny, intelligent and solid guy. That`s why most of the people in Germany and anywhere else like him.
I always enjoy reading your comments, your sense of humour, and so on, but sometimes I`ve got a problem with your fight predictions. What makes you so sure about the outcome of the fight ? Pavlik for sure has more technical skills, better hand speed, a bigger reach and is much more active, and he can bulldoze his opponents in a very impressive fashion at the ropes. He`s got a good chin and as far as I can see a good stamina. If you consider the fight from this side, you will hardly find any point that gives Abraham a chance to win this fight. But is that all about boxing ? Abraham is a very smart fighter with a big heart and a lot of power. He can boost his performance with better opponents and has a good intuition about the progression of a fight. With these preconditions they will meet in the ring. In opposite to you I think Abraham could sometimes close the distance, even or particularly at the ropes, hit Pavlik hard, and then we can see, how good his chin really is. I don`t know how Pavlik can handle, if he is gets impressed or hurt of that, what will be left over of all the advantages listed above ? I`ve seen different fights of Pavlik and Abraham, and if they are in both in their best shape, probably at 168, I really can`t predict, which way this fight would go. Hope it will ever happen !
Would be a great but short fight I think:yep:good AA has to starve himself to make weight and is beating up MUCH smaller men for a long time now. The guy could easily fight as a LHW imo. And than they criticize Cotto for beating smaller men at LWW..
Don't they want to unify their middleweight titles? If that's the case and Arthur comes in the same shape as against Simon and Ayala he has a big problem I think.
I think AA did just fine considering the circumstances during there first fight:thumbsup, No further comments on there 2nd fight.
