Sounds like his wife was an expert hitman to be able to off a fighter like Gatti with just a purse strap.
Clearly with the wound on the back of his head, he was knocked out from a blow to the back of the head first.... and then strangled.
hate to see a great warrior, who kept many of us watching fights in the early 2000's when boxing didn't have much going on, get killed so suddenly. he was a human highlight real in the sport, and for canadian fighter's, he was what we wanted to be. he was chin first, kill or be killed, tough fight after tough fight, and keep coming like jason on friday the 13th. as much as i look forward to the next ali, sugar ray, or tyson, i pray harder for the next gatti.
If someone asks me why I watch boxing, one of the reasons I'll cite are Gatti's miraculous comebacks against Wilson Rodriguez and Gabriel Ruelas, the pair of wars he had with Ivan Robinson and the ninth round stand in the first fight against Mickey Ward. He wasn't the best fighter, of course, but he was a fighter you had to see, and there just aren't that many fighters in history who can make that same claim. RIP
Everyone should have a Gatti avatar, bet's be damned, in respect for one of boxings great warriors. I haven't been this gutted about losing a fighter since Chico.
Was his wife that woman that was with him in the dressing room after he lost to Gomez? She was blonde I think.
