Asashoryu In MMA

I don't know much about MMA, and I know that a few sumo wrestlers tried their hand at it over the years when they were way past their physical prime and did poorly. But how would a prime Asashoryu do with some extensive grappling training?

Any of you MMA guys out there care to discuss? I figure his striking would be awesome and his takedown skills would be second to none. The weakness would obviously be his ground game, but is that something that could be developed with a year of intense training?

 

Depends on how he takes a punch

 

I've seen him take some pretty amazing headbutts and elbow shots in sumo without flinching.

 

It's different tho I remember the sumo guy in pride he couldn't take a punch and that was all she wrote
