yes it is, your body works as 1 unit, when you lift something heavy, you are using your entire body to do it,

look for compound lifts such as bench press, deadlifts, squats and military pressed if you want to get bigger and stronger.

    Hello Dennis & folks,

I am a total newbie both in boxing and in the forum. This post stands for a first hello to the community and for the first question.:hi:

I'm 26 years old, 190cm, 100kgs, have been active in basketball for many and practiced some bodybuilding. Then 2 years complete interruption of any sports activities. Now restarting with boxing. I started 2 weeks ago, and now I'm highly motivated, training almost every day with my cousin.

    Here my question:
I bought a nice pair of sparring velcro gloves by Green Hill, big and broad, 16oz. Of course, I wasn't able to judge about size in the very beginning and now I feel they are a little too big for my hands. I use 3m handwraps and feel the gloves a little relaxed, especially to the sides. Without handwraps I'm able to take the glove off without even opening the velcro fastener. Do you think this problem can be fixed by using other (longer, broader, thicker?) handwraps or should I consider buying another pair of gloves?

sit-ups, medicine ball routines, as you do sit ups, pounding your solar plexum as you stretch down on the sit ups, pull up bars, pounding the medicine ball on our stomach area as ou pull down and up....these are a few I routinely do with my boxers

You should take rest as if you keep going hard than you would not get stronger but weaker. First of all your trainer should tell you what to do. If he doesn't take a sh$t than see a doctor (better sports doctor or "normal" doc will tell you not to fight/train for about 2 weeks at list.)
Now, most likely your trained hard and thats the reason you're ill. Your body may be short of minerals and vitamines, protein balance may be less than perfect etc., etc. Take 3 days off to deal with illness. Take glutamine as well as other supplements (protein to supplement your dayly food intake - you need at list 2g per lb of your body weight), fish oil. In situations with training weakened imune system (as you appear to have) glutamine might be most essential. When you get back to training than I would (If I where you) recomend taking a shake that contains 0.4g of protein and 0.8g of carbohidrates before and right after workout. Or better yet - Surge from Biotest. It will help your recovery a lot.

    Hope this helps.

Why is it good to hit someones abs while they're doing crunches?
and is it the harder the better?

Dude that is the best question in awhile...this is the hardest thing to do as a boxer, train your reflexes because is all related to your ring awareness...you sparred you were uptight and your mind was full of negative taughts...you were "scare" of getting hit....etc...

The first thing I tell a new trainee for boxing is to relax, first thing first .....you have to accept that you will get hit and that it will hurt...endof story...it is boxing not jaxs...understood...Once you accept that then relax relax relax and start understanding the mechanics of boxing the body movement , the tendecy of the body to propel a puch once you start getting these elemets together them you can start having fun...slip bag is the best excersice for reflexes and mitts pads, if your trainer give you good work out with the mitts, you will start understanding the mechanics I am telling...you have to ahve good riong awaresness is a key....
