Well I'll make my own judgments thanks.

I'm not biased, I had him losing to Sturm, Quartey, and Floyd....but I can't see any way you can give him less than 6 rounds against Tito or Mosley in the rematch.

If opinions don't matter it's pretty pointless you being on a boxing forum don't you think!?!?!?!

pac, pbf, jones and bhop are easily top 40...

anything lower is biased against modern day fighters.

these guys faced competition from all around the globe

My point is that you can't just disregard his losses and argue that he beat these guys. He wasn't robbed in either fight. You can make a point against Tito, but we all know that he should've sealed the deal instead of just running.

I just can't see Floyd in top 40 untill he fights a true welter or junior middleweight

I agree he could've left no doubt in the minds of the judges, but I'd rather go by what I think that what the judges say....isn't that why we all think Pernell is better than Chavez??

I suppose DLH and Baldomir weren't true Welters.

On my scorecard Floyd didn't won with DLH. Good fight by him though. Let him fight Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, Williams or even Spinks.

Baldomir is B level fighter tailor made for Floyd

I don't think that B-Hop is a shoe in for top 40 at all!!!

Don't get me wrong, I love him and think that he could compete with any of the top MW's throughout history.

But it could be argued that he dominated a weak MW division because the best at the time (RJJ) went on to bigger challenges. His 2 biggest wins at the weight were against much smaller men, and apart from the Tarver victory he never beat a top fighter at their natural weight.

Not saying I agree with that but it's definitely noteworthy and can lead to him being rated lower. I guess it's really down to preference!!!

Can you honestly name 40 fighters who would have beaten Floyd? Iam really pressed to even think of 10,and as far as resumes go hes already got a good one against top opposition going back to jr lightweight. Remember that were ranking mayweather and all other fighters based on career accomplishments not the weight they are in and still have unfinished buisness ahead ,and Floyd just like Manny and other fighters on this list have done most of their work in lighter weights. Usually most of the fans on the ESB site tend to overrate todays fighters, but on this thread it seems to be the opposite. Every one of the current greats mentioned are top 50 atg and many of you put them around 100 and put obvious top 25 guys around 75. While my way of rankingind were not exactly scientific Ive gone through lists of atg (over 100) and picked how many past greats would be above current greats and every one of the current ones make the top 50 (see my post) . I feel i was somewhere on the right page with each fighter as Im a hard core fan who is knowledgable on fighters dating back to pre quensberry.

    Very approximately...

    35-40.

    80ish.

    90ish.

    40-50.

    95-105.

    80ish.

    30-35.

Very, very difficult fighter to rank. My gut feeling is about 80ish, but if I ever actually wrote a list it could turn out to be something different.

    80-85.

    30-35.

Those are my rough estimations, as I said if I ever wrote the list maybe those rankings would all work out to be different, but it gives you an idea of where I place them in relation to the others.

My most important criteria is of course Resume. After that, I consider numerous different factors like my personal rating of their ability, their weight-jumping achievements and/or dominance in one division, titles won, take losses into account with circumstance, etc.

To the thread-starter: why no Juan Manuel Marquez?

Well like i already stated were ranking these guys on career accomplishments and floyds best work was done below these weights and i believe to rank money as a jm is unfair hes only been there once. Its like saying how many jms could have beat pernell, thats not fair to all he accomplished below that weight.Mayweather started his career at JL lighter than even Pernell, but to answer your question i can think of 2 shoe in wins over money at jm and 3or 4 that would be even money. At welter I thought of 4 that would beat him and another 3 that would be pickems. However most of the ones that i thought would beat him,i would not rank above him on a pfp level. Also i might change my mind if Floyd can continue his streak. If he loses 1 or 2 fights in the future against the next big 3 id have to change my mind on his high ranking. IN fact I think everybody should maybe hold their final rankings on Pacman,Mayweather, and SUgar shane until after they fight eachother.ON a lesser level even Hopkins and Jones.
