I believe Sultan will try to outbox Vlad, (hint) Jeff Mayweather style. However, he might try to test Vlad, but that is very dangerous.
Atlas just has a thing about southpaws I guess... But he did call the DQ3 in Tyson-Holyfield exactly right.
I'm surprised, almost shocked since it was Atlas, who in the Iggy-Austin ESPN telecast, revealed most of Sultan's strategical-technical flaws and on which Ray could capitalize on - the tendency to move to his left side, crossing his feet, the low right guard, the way Austin should wait for him to step inside and make use of the reach advantage, etc... - I'm sayin Atlas is tryin to bring attentions on him by making a prediction nobody expects to come true - if the upset somehow happens ( and this is boxing), Atlas looks good in predicting it, if Wlad crushes him, everybody will forget about Atlas prediction.
Gotta give credit to Ibragimov for taking such a risky fight where he's the outsider instead of just defending his strap against easier opposition. He got the balls of a champ, but not the talent. Agreed, he got some decent footwork, handspeed and overall skills, and that's enough to knock out C-level opponents (hence his high KO percentage), but it's really nothing special. If he fights as awkward as against Briggs and Holyfield he might go the distance. If not, Klitschko knocks him out like the rest. Ibragimov is not stupid, so I say Klitschko by wide UD.
2.5 pounds, you're revealing either a bias or ignorance re Sanders (and other fighters - btw a distinct pattern is becoming apparent too). If Sanders was more dedicated he could have had a top career. He did well as it was and was avoided by many top HWs. Pretty good for a "crap" fighter :bart Btw, there is no shortage of fans on ESB that think your boy is crap too. If he can't get by old Oleg, Peter is a bust as a top HW :deal
Does Atlas give any reasons? He's so off the wall. He's always been bad mouthing Wlad. Maybe we should have him as the commentator and see what he says after the KO.
Sultan is too sloppy of a fighter to really do anything than hang around and try to tire Wlad out, Briggs and Holyfield weren't able to pull the trigger on him, Klitschko will be. Neither Wlad or Iggy have great defense, but If Sultan couldn't land a hellacious shot on either Holy or Briggs (Briggs especially has awful defense) I doubt he will on Wlad. Wlad is just too technically sound offensively and Sultan is always open for a counter.
Calm the **** down, junior. I'm giving credit where it's due for that one, not claiming Atlas to be some kind of master predictor. Lay off the coffee.
It surprised me when I heard this last night but it was his reasoning that got me thinking. He looked back at Williams/Quintana and showed how the smaller shouthpaw fighter was able to land the big shots on the taller fighter. Good logic but I think Wlad is a lot smarter than Williams. He'll know to use his reach and his height to his advantages. Does anyone remember if he said Sultan will KO Wlad?
Teddy Atlas was so far off his rocker last night...I don't remember everything he said but he kept making completely false claims least of which was that sultan has an edge because he's the Younger Man... OK Teddy you took one too many punches to the head...I'm ok with you picking SI that's your pick and that's fine but when it's a well know fact that Wlad is Younger than Sultan and you don't know that well I think you're just reaching for anything to make your prediction seem plausible
The same Zuri Lawrence who beat McCline more easily than Peter did... Brock knocked him out cold with a single left hook. Brock is not a huge puncher, but that fight shows he can definitely hit.
