Both have fought overseas - Dib won all his bouts - UK and US bar the loss to Luevano. Willie fought overseas and lost, and by all reports has now lost the plot also. If he's so good, why is he not re-focusing, knuckling down under an astute trainer like he had in Craig Christian and trying to re-build his career? ****ing hell, with all due respect, the wraps on him were over the top to begin with and when faced with the first acid test - Elomar, ka-****ing-boom, goodnight! That was the beginning of the end. I have said before on here - Willie was a good regional belt prospect, not 'next big thing / world champion'which some on here were pulling themselves over. C'mon Ash, your more astute in your boxing knowledge than that.
Well he might be in your opinion Teke, but this debate was about whether Dib could beat Kickett and in my opinion, at Super-Feather, a weight they can both make, Dib win's easily.
You dont get away that easy mate.... 1. You say Dib won his hand picked OS fights...."bull****"...I guess you missed the Vargus fight 2. Did Dib get dropped by Yamagouchi 3. Willie was schooling Elomar 99% of the fight :deal 4. Willie will be back better than ever mid 2010 :good
I agree with the teksta. Dib is a ****ing toilet and should have more L's on his record than Kickett. And yes, a focused Kickett would do a number on Dib. Whether the fight ends by Dib losing a decision, or losing his cool and getting himself DQ is another matter.
That's what I love about the ESB Forum, good lively debate. You forgot to remember Dib schooled Mtwaga (fact - look at judges scorecard), yet he went the distance with Juan Ma, very nearly pulling off an upset and now faces Gamboa next. We can debate points back and forth and on this one, we'll have to agree to disagree. It's a fight that never will happen, especially since by the reports, Mr Kickett has ****ed off the radar and left 'Harrys Gym'. Hey Ash, in relation to your point 3 - same thing was happening to Vic last weekend against Rojas, yet he pulled off the victory. Willie may have been 'schooling' Elomar, but guess what, the student went home the victor, the teacher woke up on the Saturday! It's about the end destination, not so much the route travelled.
id back dib to beat kickett. im giving dib another chance and im starting to like him again, i know he has got some points win that should have gone the other way but u cant blame him for that. like it or not dib has world class experiance with his trips overseas, and we all know what happened to kickett when he went to america (i havent seen the fight though) yeah teke u dont miss much with your picks but im going against you and will say that dib would KO willie. me thinks willies chin is a little glassy. are people just tipping against dib because they dont like him? kickett has looked great ...against who? i mean the has fought nobody!! you all remember MSTRs thread talking up kickett like he was goin to be the next best thing in oz? lol lol lol
Thank you Marcus - logic! No seriously, I have never been a Willie hater and have gone on record here as saying that I certainly feel he's a top domestic level / regional belt fighter. World Champion and next 'big thing' in boxing drivel that was being banded about by a lot of people, both on here and in the press put nothing but undue pressure on the kid and maybe that was part of such a big fall from grace. I hope he returns, but at the moment, only he can answer that. Dib's performance last Friday night was very good. A solid 8-round shutout and in particular R5 where he really got Mangan with some super shots. Big props to Mangan, he wouldn't go down the tough bugger and even got Billy with one or two beauties in the final round! Say that about Billy, if everyone remembers correctly, he did take some super shots off Marali and kept going right to the end, he can take a punch and come back. Some of Mangan's as I said on Friday night were great punches and Billy stood there and come straight back at him. It was a good performance by Billy to continue his momentum. That's the fundamental difference at the moment, Dib - keen, eager and fighting. Kickett - who know's where he's at? We can only hope he comes back.
I like Dib and have seen quite a few of his fights. One of the things I like about Dib is when Willie got KTFO by Elomar Dib jumped in the ring and protected him :good I just think Willie's speed will be enough to win a close UD over Dib.
We shall see how Dib reacts when he is under pressure again in the future at some stage. Nearly every time unfortunately he has ended up acting like a coward.
