Jason Whateley is being moved very quickly which is good. Won't be long before he's right up there with the likes of Jai Opetaia & David Light.

I've only seen Liam Wilson once but I really rate him highly. Along with Whateley & Daniel Lewis, he's worth following. Would like to see him fight for the IBF Junior Lightweight title one day to follow in the footsteps of some of the greats of Australian boxing.

Interesting comments by Jeff Fenech about Daniel Lewis. He's been watching Lewis spar with Michael Zerafa so perhaps the tables have turned during those sessions.

Mundine fighting John Wayne Parr means he's out of the mix as an opponent for Tim Tszyu in November. In a way that's good b/c it means Tszyu will be having a genuine development fight at Junior Middle as opposed to a money grab at a higher weight division.

 

Lance Bryant's a bit past his prime now but I'd back him to beat Opetaia's opponent Nik Charalompous. I thought he'd give David Light more trouble when they fought but Light blew him away. Still, a decentish step up for Whateley so early in his career.

 

Why do posters call you "BAB's". Just curious kid.

 

* Stretton Gym had big wraps on CW Zach Bacigalupo but on his debut Sat night DDP card he was destroyed in 68 sec by Luke Modini who had won his debut 2 weeks earlier in 71 sec. Remember this name Modini.

Yeah we are happy enough with Bryant as Jason's opponent in his 6th fight. I also thought he'd be a bit more competitive against Light but our team isn't focusing on that. It'll be Jason's first fight scheduled for 10, so we will see what happens. Both guys have plenty of time to prepare.

 

Good luck with Jason's career and good to see him being moved at a good pace. The cruiserweight division is starting to look quite strong in this part of the world.

 

Yeah it sure is. It's a very competitive division which is fairly deep with talented guys. Jai and David lead the way at the moment but we are pretty confident Jason will be up there before too long.

 

Yep definitely and don't forget David Nyika as well my good Aussie friends haha.

Pedroza next in a IBF eliminator to fight the winner of the now Commey vs Lopez Title fight.
* WBO latest SMW ratings has Rohan Murdock no 2 and Zac Dunn no 4.
* DDP has a busy yr with another show on Oct 12 and then Mundine fight Nov.
* Interesting who the Hornet fights if he wins in Aug with the news Bryant will most
likely exercise his rights for a third match with Murata. The Hornet plans another bout in Dec.
* The Lucas Browne fight with Tom Little will be shown on Fox 505 Sun .

Horndog should call out Keiff Thurman if he beats Zerafa. Fight him at Junior Middle & whoop him good.

George Kambosos Jr is following a long line of Australians who have got their first shot at the big time through the IBF. We've had some booms & busts travelling that path. Hopefully when the time comes, George Jr is a boom.

Rohan Murdock & Zac Dunn should fight each other. Come on boys. If the Junior Middles can get it on, why can't you? No-one wants to see another Bilal Akkawy style mugging. Fight each other before challenging for a world title & there's less chance of that happening.

Great story by Mark Geyer about how he was graded at Penrith. Tim Sheens was a great rugby league coach in his day & knew how to spot talent. A lot of those guys who won Penrith their first premiership were recruited by Sheens. In Geyer's case, it would seem on the basis of two shoulder-charges in the last few minutes of a trial. Good thing he wasn't playing under today's rules.

 

Let's just hope David Nyika makes it through the Olympic qualification tournament this time, eh?

Maybe he could ask Jason Whateley for a few tips on how to do that?

And any word on whether he's interested in a fight with Justis Huni?
