Good to see Michael Zerafa back inside the Australian boxing tent where he belongs. It's going to be a tough assignment for him beating Lara having not fought since 2022, but hopefully he gets plenty of good sparring & claims the crown. I'm hoping to put my feet up on 31 March & to see a double victory for Australia in the Land of the Doodle. Then getting ready for a blockbuster King Timmy v Michael Zerafa showdown here in Australia mid-year. Yeah, baby!

ESPN reports that the World Boxing Organization has “declined to sanction” the Tszyu vs. Thurman fight for their WBO junior middleweight title, which makes a lot of sense. The Tszyu-Thurman oddity will still happen, but it won’t be for the WBO’s 154-lb title.

    Why The Change?
The 35-year-old former WBC & WBA welterweight champion Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) has these things that prevent him from fighting for Tszyu’s WBO 154-lb title:
    - Thurman unranked in WBO’s top 15 at 154
    - He hasn’t fought in 29 months
    - Never competed at 154 Unranked in WBO’s top 15 at 147

Reckon it will go ahead regardless. Tim wins & he's in a very strong position. Best case scenario he accepts a challenge from Crawford to defend the WBO Jr Middleweight belt during the American summer. Another option will be to challenge either Erislandy Lara or Michael Zerafa for the WBA Middleweight title.

    Good job.

Poor fight. Those that say it's a good fight for Tim are kidding themselves.

I think King Timmy needed an additional fight against someone with genuine speed & skill before taking on Crawford. Blokes like Mendoza & Ocampo were lacking quite a bit in those departments, imo. It's debatable whether Thurman can produce those qualities at this point, but the hope will be that he can. At least for a few rounds. I would have gone Lubin for the tune-up myself, but if he was playing hard ball & didn't really want the fight, there's not much that can be done about it I would imagine. Looking forward to the show at the end of March & another big win for King Timmy. All hail King Timmy! First of his name, inflictor of pain.

It remains to be seen what kind of fight it is, Beaver. Looks like a decent show to me with King Timmy headlining in Las Vegas.

What's that? Thurman has never fought at Junior Middle? Neither has Crawford. Maybe King Timmy would have been better off sitting on his arse waiting for Crawford to be ready for him in the American summer? Or not.

Beanstalk is on the show as well so there will be a plethora of potential opponents for King Timmy following on from this fight should he win.

I'm looking forward to seeing Keiffy get flattened & if he happens to provide stiffer opposition than many expect, the beneficiary will be King Timmy. Party in the TszyUSA!

I been thinking something similar for s while..
As far as I know they still got Hardman/Zerafa rematch up their sleeves, I was thinking this on Tszyu bill in Aust then feeding winner to Tim to become 2 weight champ…
I still got no idea how Zerafa or become no1 contender or Zerafa/Hardman was “eliminator” but good luck to all mentioned above…

Bit of a rant but Im still not a fan of no limit, PBS’s whipping boys n so many other worthy fighters missing out on tv in this country due to foxtel deal…
Local cards are ok but its more ghe fighters than the promoters being good at their jobs..
Tim shouldda been undisputed 154 and a beltholder at 160 already…
That n foxtel n $ annoys me, similar to when they took off all boxing n muay thai years back n replaced everything with A1 Tarik Solak cards from Turkey or wherever…

No one said it was a rubbish card, it's a rubbish fight.... don't conflict the two.

I've given King Timmy's future some further thought. The best option would be Crawford during the American summer if that fight's on offer. It's a chance to fight not only a Big Doodle (something a Tszyu has never done) but the biggest of them all currently. You don't pass that up if it's on the table. I think Tim's second-best option will be a unification fight. That might depend on the outcome of the WBC title fight. Fundora's coming off a brutal kayo loss which makes things tough for him but there's little doubt the division is in better shape with him as a champ. I reckon King Timmy stays @ Junior Middle while there are fish to be fried there. They don't come any bigger than Crawford while there are several other big fights at the weight that could get made. King Timmy moves to Middleweight when he's cleaned house at Junior Middle or gets done. Not before. Michael Zerafa is on his own @ Middleweight which I'm sure is fine by him b/c it gives him the opportunity to show the country what he's all about.

I love the No Limit shows. They do their best to stack them, mostly successfully, but I've never agreed with the Foxtel / Main Event monopoly arrangement b/c all it's done is send half our best talent overseas. That's not all bad I guess but someone like Justis Huni would really have benefitted from another couple of years of development fighting at home. Which would have given the general sports public a chance to get to know him & invest in his story. Instead, he's made a grand total of one appearance fighting in Mexico (of all places). Injuries have played their role of course but I think we had a vibrant local scene with two good promotional outfits & another beginning to put on top class shows as well. Now we're back to one. One thing I'd like to see No Limit do is develop a top-class Heavyweight. Toese Vousiutu is very entertaining but he doesn't have the potential that someone like Teremoana Jr has. The other really top-class talent in the amateurs is Callum Peters. I saw him fight at the AIS on Australia Day & he's a tremendous talent. Very tall, athletic, fast & skilful. He's also got the amateur pedigree to launch quickly as a pro. Hoping No Limit sign him up & they get him working with King Timmy.

The Sandman is never conflicted, Beaver. Glad you don't think it's a rubbish card. Hopefully it's good enough for you to put your hand in your pocket at the end of March. I'm reserving judgement on the quality of the King Timmy v Thurman Merman fight until I see it. Party in the TszyUSA!
