Or it isn't really an announcement as such.

Might just be a photo opportunity for a future meeting of the two and not specifically related to March 8th?

It's not. Surprised they went with those pics tbh.

Watched our women at the Commonwealth games trials this morning & afternoon. Best fight of the day was the last one at Junior Middle where Lekeisha Pergoliti was given all she could handle & then some by national champ Emma Smith. Two of the judges made the mistake of fairly scoring the first round to Smith which caused problems when Smith promptly sat Pergoliti down in the second. The judges had to score the second round to Pergoliti or else Smith was home & hosed on their scorecards. To complicate things further, a frustrated Pergoliti then blatantly fouled Smith in the third. The ref bravely did the right thing & deducted a point. Pergoliti home 5:0 in the end but the judges had to work harder than she did to have her finish in front. She's the right one to be taking to the Commonwealth games but it wasn't easy. Monique Suraci beat Julie Ramadan at Bantamweight to clinch her spot. I think she looks much stronger at that weight than she did at Flyweight. The Commonwealth games will be a really good opportunity for her to snare a medal at a big tournament. That's what's lacking on her CV. Gold would be nice. Ciara Storch, the national Lightweight champ who I thought was worth taking to the Commonwealth games, didn't compete. Perhaps the word was out that we're not taking a fighter in her division. Men's tournament week after next.

Nikita keeping his feet on the ground regarding next fight and where he stands in the rankings :

“We’re planning for May or something – a couple of months away. I’m still very fit. Not doing boxing – I’ve got two weeks off – but I’m still running. Once I get stuck into the groove of training it’s not like I’m going to be restarting – just picking up.

“I have no idea what my team want in my next opponent. If I was to assume I’d say a little bit less of a step up from Michael. More, building. ‘Cause, yes, I am ranked sixth with the IBF. But I don’t have the experience to be ranked there, and gotta build up the rounds.

Nikita should fight Ben Mahoney next up. Mahoney holds a #13 world ranking with the IBF at Junior Middle (Micky Z held the same ranking with them at Middleweight) which would mean that a win for Nikita would bring about the same result with the IBF as it would have had he officially beaten Blind Micky.

Fenech was a phenomenon. I had Uruguayan neighbours back then and they threw huge parties for his fights.

Eddie Hearn has said that an announcement for Matchroom's new broadcast deal in Australia is imminent. ( has to be Fox as DAZN owns it ) Teremona has left Tasman fighters and now exclusively with Matchroom. And Huni is still contracted to them.

The IBF has ordered a 30 day negotiation period for Willibaldo Garcia to defend his 115 pound belt against Andrew Moloney.

It’s a 4 fight deal with up to 4 PPV. Teremoana hasn’t left. Nothing has changed. It’s the exact same scenario as prior. I like Edward but sometimes you’ve gotta take it with a dash.

He's the typical hat and cane big top showman, which is why he's so successful.

We all like Slow Eddie but someone needs to give him a kick up the arse so he starts spending some of his stash on getting better quality opponents for our top fighters. Teremoana needs to be matched with some decent local opposition in order to build up his skills & a following. It would be an additional bonus if he's fighting on a television platform that people actually watch so they can see him fight.

My suggestions for Teremoana's next six opponents -

Django Opelu 16-6-2 (12) 6x3 (Currently inactive but acceptable as an opponent next up.)
Kiki Toa Leutele 12-2-2 (8) 6x3 (Also inactive but fights Justis Huni next. Fight him after that.)
Johan Linde 6-3-1 (5) 8x3 (Old, but durable. Suitable as an opponent for an 8-rounder.)
Toese Vousiutu 8-3 (7) 8x3 (Not quite as beastly as he used to be, but a tough night's work for anyone. T needs some rounds before taking him on.)
Liam Talivaa 7-2 (3) 8x3 (Decent national title challenge last start. Tricky southpaw with decent skills. Don't think getting hit by T will agree with him.)
Stevan Ivic 8-0-1 (2) 10x3 (Australian title shot. This is a fight that will answer one of the most fundamental questions in Australian boxing - which Australian heavyweight has the best dance moves?)
