Look at the past busy fighters that bernard faced. Against Taylor he dropped 2 decisions and against Wright he had to resrot to holding for most of the fight. Joe may not punch all that hard but his punches do land clean and they land in bunches. People are underestimating everything about him. They say that Bernard can counter punch but Joe can do that too. They talk about bernard's craftiness and experience. Joe has him matched on both those fronts as well. The way I see it, Joe will win very easily. At first bernard will try to steal rounds by doing something big at the end, when he sees that he is not winning he will try to fight dirty. When he does that Joe will surprise everyone by showing that he too can be sneaky and dirty. When all else is failing bernard will really try to fight but he will see that he is just overmatched. Calzage wins 9-3
Hopkins by Split. Considering Calzaghe was abe to get roughed up by BIKA,Salem, Mitchell (to body). Hopkins has the perfect style to "rough " him up. Hopkins also knows how to fight on the inside, somehting Kessler/Lacy couldnt do. He knows also how to foul on the inside without the ref seeing. If this fight was 6 years ago, and staged inthe US i would favour Hopkins strongly, give Calzaghe maybe a 20% chance. But today, its a genuine 50/50 fight as Hopkins is alot older. I also think Hopkins has fought in by far the higher class, Calzaghes best win against a predictable Kessler.
i am hoping for a calzaghe points descion, but i have never wanted calzaghe to fight hopkins. much rather he would have faced pavlik /taylor/dawson/ style make fights and calzaghe has boxed poorly in the past v spoilers. and at this stage of hopkins career, that is exactly what hopkins will try to do in this fight spoil. its his best chance of getting the win , and calzaghe must not get drawn into this type of fight, but i fear that he will. so all in all i would take an ugly win for calzaghe and be happy with that.
i think tarver was a great win and was a great illustration of hopkins class, but IMO hopkins has never beaten an opponent who i would have picked to have beaten calzaghe at the time hopkins fought them. IMO calzaghe would have beat the dlh/eastman/wright/trinidad/etc etc version of fighters hopkins fought. i think calzaghe would have a much easier time with DLH and much harder time with tarver though.
hops to get disqualified by 7th cause he dont want to embarrass himself anymore ( maybe bite calzaghes` ear or something)
