Bad Bennie Brisco vs Julian Jackson @ MW

Who wins and how?

 

Bad Bennie backs him up and stops him in about 6 or 8 rounds with one of those wide looping rights landing on the button. Briscoe was so much stronger in there, I think he'd really maul him around on the inside with Julian being unable to keep things on the outside, where he liked to operate from. And Jackson isn't backing this guy up either and he'd be the guy on the retreat, which would see him and that defense of his getting clipped at the end of punches.

 

Bump. This would have been a crazy war. I think Briscoe can maul Jackson to a stoppage but I also think Jackson has the power to stop Briscoe.

 

It would be foolish to dismiss Jacksons chances of a win here, anyone he can hit, he can hurt, and Briscoe wasn't hard to miss, if the fight is set at MW , then we have an all time chin, up against an all time punch ( left or right ) and it's arguable that Jackson hit harder than Valdez, but Bennie is so damn tough, his will to win knew no bounds, an implacable foe, that didn't know the meaning of the word fear, can see Bennie's sickening body punches over the rounds, taking the fight out of Jackson, to the extent that he will folding before the middle rounds in a 15 rounder.

Bennie was there to be hit and as determined as he was, he lost to a lot of fairly average fighters. Julian wasn’t average.

Sooner or later, Bad Bennie gets boomed. Probably sooner.

Briscoe wins, because he was durable and could hit. Jackson doesn't match up well vs this types. But he has a punchers chance and can out box Briscoe if a boxing match break outs.

Excellent post. Jackson had real trouble if you could back him up. See McCallum and McClellan. Jacksons quality of opposition at 160 really wasnt very good and hes kind of overrated. This isnt Jay Bell or Ismael Negron. Graham was the best he beat and he was getting tatooed before landing the haymaker. Briscoe is much more physically imposing tand powerful than Graham and had a better chin. Briscoe suffered from being in a tough era, losing in 15 to Monzon while both were prime

 

Tough match up. But I slightly lean to "Bad" Bennie in this one.
Briscoe would be the natural bigger man, if we're talking prime vs prime because most of Jackson's best yrs were at Jr. Middleweight.
Stylistically the aggressive way Briscoe fought would take some steam off of Jackson's bombs because he'd keep him on the back foot , Briscoe also had a great chin, and though aggressive, he was defensively responsible because his chin was usually tucked , it was hard to land a clean shot on it.
Jackson has the proverbial " punchers chance" because he could probably lay out King Kong if he caught him clean. And though Briscoe was koed by Valdez in 7rds , that situation was more an accumulation of hard punches after a grueling war . Jackson wouldn't hold up the way Valdez did in that fight.
After some tough early moments ( And IF Jackson doesn't land THE perfect combo, if he does, fights over, Jackson wins)
I see the steady relentless pressure of Briscoe grinding Jackson down, stops him with in 8rds.

 

The problem I have is that Bennie is walking toward one of the greatest punchers in the history of the divison that only needs ONE punch not to mention Jackson has the quicker hands as well.
I love Bennie but he gets stopped by the 6th round.

 

Bennie would back Jackson up and take away some of his leverage. Dangerous fight but I see Briscoe working him over, grinding Jackson down into a fine powder. Breaking JJ down, body and then the head.

 

Briscoe hurts Jackson over a few rounds and makes him look ordinary. After all let’s face it, Bennie was a better all round fighter. Dominating JJ for a while is a given.

But I can then see the following scenario unfold…out of nowhere the “Jack” hammer is unleashed by JJ, probably around the 7th, right on Bad Bennie’s jaw. Lights out, game over, job done.

 

Hard one, I think Bennie might come in with too much dog in him and get neutered with a right hand early more often then not, Jackson was freaky powerful or if his power isn’t enough he gets backed up and beat up I guess.
