Bad counts in Big Fights

    I think that the most important factor in a count, is that the numbers be clearly discernible to the fallen fighter, as they are counted out from 1-10.

    This means that the count would typically be a shade on the long side.

    I agree. Clear commanding tone. That may run a shade over a stop watches 10 seconds.

    Yeah, I’m actually more annoyed by the modern practice where a ref give the guy who’s been dropped another 10-15 seconds to demonstrate that he can follow instructions before he allows the fight to resume.

    Not so. Bob Sheridan (the announcer) and the referee weren't counting in sync.
