I think Foreman had the biggest power, despite him not knocking people flat with one shot, it was a ferocious power that could really, really damage people. If anything, he was more destructive for it; you'd take a horrifying beating. He punched hole in punch bags, nuff said
Norton hit the floor against just about anyone. Destroying Frazier like he did was impressive, but they were all beaten down, albeit quickly. None of his opponents, Moorer aside, were really seperated from their senses, the way same of Tyson, Louis, Lennox, Marciano or Tua's opponents were.
Quite true ,but does anybody think it was Carnera's punching that resulted in his death? Schaaf was out for over 10 minutes after being hit by Baer ,he was dragged back to his corner. Prior to his bout with Carnera ,Schaaf was also hospitalized with a severe case of influenza
I don't think that Max Baer is even in the running truthfully. There are several men who I'd rate as harder punchers than Max. As for Foreman and Tua being ranked behind Shavers, well I guess its certainly a possibility, but then I don't know if its a given. The only thing that Earnie has is the testimony of certain men who claim that he hit them harder than anyone else, but those kinds of claims can be dicey at times. Shavers also never recorded a serious knockout over a truly durable fighter who was world class and in the prime of his career.
Baer has a verry heavy body of testimony from people who fought or sparred with him to suport his case. Prety much like Shavers in fact. Personaly I believe the testimony in both cases. Its not like either fighters sucess can be atributed to anything other than their power.
I think Tua just though, when I look at the Ruiz fight and some others it is clear he has a mean streak and I am amazed that he hasn't killed someone in the ring. He has the power to put someone out and then keeps up a barrage of punches as they fall and Tua is fast unlike Baer and Foreman.
