    :yep:happy:happy

With news that the proposed Matthew Macklin (24-2) vs Darren Barker (20-0) fight will not be going ahead, as Mackin looks set to fight Amin Asikainen for the vacant EBU title, it would seem that Barker will now be fighting on the Froch vs Dirrell undercard for the vacant British title.

Andrew Facey is muted as the opponent for the date at the Nottingham Arena for Barker. The awkward Ingle fighter gave Macklin his first back in 2003 over 10 rounds at light middleweight.

Welterweight Adnan Amar (22-1) likely to defend his English title against Tom Glover(9-5-3) on the same bill.

Can't help thinking Macklin got MUCH the better of the deal here...

Oh well, he's fighting for the Brit title even if its against an annoying opponent. Barker shouldn't allow Facey to cause him trouble as he has others.

We need to start up some sort of petition. I used to love the way Setanta always responded to what their customers were asking for. Why can't we do the same with Sky?:think Robbing *******s. When you look at some of the shitty PPV's we've had it's almost like when they're given the chance to show something good they think, '**** it- ripping them off was much more fun'.

About time - his career has moved far too slowly since his comeback.
Trying to pick an opponent will be tricky as the domestic middleweight scene is pretty bare:

I'm tempted to say Elcock might be the best available opponent despite having not fought since Macklin destroyed him, and having only boxed 5 rounds in near two years.

It's good that Barker is getting a shot at the title but I'm still dissappointed that he won't be fighting Macklin for it. Although fair play to Macklin as he took a fight for a more prestigious title. I think he should be fighting someone better than Facey though. Maybe Elcock or Murray.

Facey is a decent opponent and will offer Darren a good workout. He does need to move up again in level of oppositin but Facey fills the gap nice.
