everyone is making out that Khan is completely ****, Khan is a good boxer he only needs to fight big names without punching power, or legends without punching power.

if something is fishy it's a trout.

Roach will find out winning against Barrera is a lot harder when you don't have Pac in your corner.

Khan has had 20 fights against such in inferior opposition, with the exception against Prescott. Who wasn`t really a house hold name at the time.
If Khan doesn`t step up against better fighters now, when will he???????

and lets face it. We all know he`s facing a MAB who`s in the twighlight years of his boxing career.

Nothing fishy, unless you think one of them is gonna take a dive.

Interesting fight, I look forward to it.

Honestly I'll say that I would have thought the promoters would be making this a really big deal but its been pretty low key. That in and of itself is fishy in my book.

When I say "fishy" I mean this kind of bizarre matchup (given the points raised previsouly) really makes you wonder whether a pre-arranged agreement has already been make. Barrera is at the last stages of his career and is probably looking for a BIG payday before he sunsets into retirement, and a win for Khan would get him back amongst the contenders.

Still think this has "fix" written all over it. Would not surprise me one bit if Khan raises his hand at the end of this one.

Look at this from Warren's view-

Khan wins- Amir has beat an ageing legend, has anounced himself on the world stage and he makes a boat load.

Khan loses a close fight- Khan proves he can mix it with the best and has gained a load of experience, doesn't lose too much credibilty and he makes a boat load.

Khan is blown away- It was going to happen again soon anyway. Better MAB than a Willie Limmond type, and at least he managed to cash in on one magafight.

Nothing fishy just great match making. Warren cant lose. Unfortunately.

MAB would never take a dive, period. The only thing he has to worry about in this fight is the size difference, if he can avoid Khan's power long enough to get to his chin this fight is in the bag, even at this stage of his career.

For MAB, this is a way to keep his name circulating.

IMO, Frank Warren has decided to take a massive risk with his cash cow. He was happy to pad his record like he did with Calzaghe and Hatton as it made him a lot of money. However, when he got way ahead of himself by having the public fork out for Khan on PPV, things went badly wrong. Relative unknown, but 'dangerous puncher' Prescott (as the fans were constantly reminded) sparked Amir within 1 minute and suddenly he was no longer an undefeated prospect, which basically destroyed the deal Warren had with Sky Box Office, as he lost a lot of his marketability. (this is why De La Hoya and Pacquiao wasn't just on normal Sky Sports and Khan was on a British card before this broadcast, so Sky could recoup some money).

Now, with his new Olympian prospects signed as Pros, Warren has decided it's either time to inject a bit of life into Khan's bid to be world champion, or time to cash out on him as he's lost faith that he can bring him the paydays he craves. Barrera is the perfect opponent for either conclusion. He will bring money to the table for Warren and the fight will be filled with hype about the Barrera/Naseem matchup all those years ago. Should Khan win, most of the British public who make up Khan's fanbase will not know that Barrera is fighting 10 pounds outside his best weight class and has been inactive for the last while, having lost his last 2 fights, which puts Khan back on top in their eyes. This will bring them back on board and Warren's plans for Khan will be back where they were before the Prescott fight. Should Khan lose, however, Warren will make as much off this fight as he would have from a world title fight anyway, so he'll be able to stop having to put so much money into promoting Amir as he will have be shown to be out of his depth with world class opposition.

Basically, Warren is making this seem as Khan's sink or swim fight, really he's just lining his pockets and seeing how much more money he can make out of Khan now that he's damaged goods.

    Agreed.

Marco ain't the kind of fighter to take a dive. He's been a winner all his life, and he's in the game to make a genuine attempt at a title at 135.
