As bad as Johnson is Barrett should get him.Barrett is the ''Hypejob Killer''.

I hope Barrett shuts Johnson up, if Barrett KO's this hypejob or even beats him decisively I'll be happy.

Whole lotta hate for Johnson on here. From what I have seen, he is pretty good. Certainly not as bad as some claim. He was trained by none other than my man Larry Holmes for the very beginning of his career, which is where I assume he got that slick jab from.

    Spot on.

Johnson is a talented fighter. He sometimes gets a little lazy in the ring but the guy is very slick.

I think he'd beat Barrett easily.

Yes, good to see Barrett still pressing on, and I hope he gets a decent name opponent, like Johnson, with which to get himself back to another big fight.

Barrett vs Peter, or Barrett vs Maskaev. Many good matchups out there for Barrett.

Johnson takes a wide decision from Barrett. This would be a good step up for Johnson but Barrett's best days are behind him. He still might have something left and has a history of knocking off prospects, but not here. Johnson can be lazy, inconsistent, and less than exciting but there is a lot of talent there. I'd like to see this fight happen and if Johnson can't get a fight with Barrett he needs to fight someone similar-time to step up for "Kingpin".

He's got a very good jab, the problem is the lack of power and the inabilitity to throw anything but a jab.

Who has he beat, and what has he done. All he's done is lose his biggest fights. Tye Fields is a nobody

  9. Kevin would dismantle the china chinned Barrett. Monte was a C-Level fighter in his prime, now his a D-level fighter. Good fight for Kj's resume. But it proves nothing. What does KJ get out of this fight? Its a lose-lose for KJ. If he wins, posters will say he beat a 37 yr old bum, aand if he loses, his career is derailed. Barrett just the opposite.

Just checked boxingtalk again. Things are really heating up these between these two. They are sending out press releases about eachother like crazy. Check it out. Looks like this fight might actually happen. They both keep talking about how they whupped eachother's asses during sparring years ago.:bbb

**** no, I am certainly not praising his win over Fields (I was happy to see that bum go though) I am merely saying that looking at some of his performances, Barrett isn't all that bad. Yes, he lost to Mesi (I know Mesi ain't the ****) but he put up a good performance, and I for one thought that he deserved that win. And then there is the Guinn fight and the Beck fight.

True, he needs to start bringing more to the table than just a jab, but I will point to his former mentor, Larry Holmes, who dominated just about everybody with the jab.

I wouldn't mind seeing either one of those. I think Barrett could pull off a win over Maskaev, but the Peter fight would be tricky.

:good Guys saying barret is garbage (especially in the current hw division and that of the past 5 years) are way off. Guinn and Beck were fringe top 15 guys he beat. Fields is a decent win also. I agree also with what you said earlier, he often tries to slug it out and ko guys which cost him big versus Valuev and Haye (tho Haye would've likely won anyway even with a smart gameplan). Barrett vs Kingpin is a good matchup. Johnson isn't as bad as some posters say. He's obviously fast for a HW and does show power when he commits to his punches (unlike say other slick hw's like byrd or estrada). Johnson just hasn't been tested and Barrett would be a good test right now and I think Barrett can take it.
