Yeah, i do agree the air time could have gone to more deserving fighters. Im sure Bunce would argue that he does need, and unfortunately this is the case, "household" names on the show to add casual listeners in order to keep it running. Its a small sacrafice that has to be made. Without trying to suck up to Bunce too much, i think he does more than enough to give airtime to domestic level pros and amateurs which contributes a great deal to the awareness of Boxing in the UK. At times it feels like his is a one man band.
I think your underestimating the number of complaints and how embarassed sky were about the fight. They won't show Audley again.
Buncey has said the show gets record numbers. thats all from hardcore boxing fans like you and I. The show has a large and loyal fanbase, we don't need to give a **** about the casual fan. serious the thing that pisses me off most about boxing is the casual fan. **** THE CASUAL FAN. Buncey does do allot for small name boxers. it was his main defence after the shameless plugging of Hayeducker vs Fraudley. 2 weeks later he gets Fraudley on and lets him talk **** for 10 minutes.
Of course they'll show him again, Sky pushed for the mis match, they're as much to blame as anyone. Harrison Vs Fury You wouldn't watch that Rob...be honest
Big Aud said sorry, he said it a couple of times. He got up when many would have stayed down and he is going to come back and fight here and face the music...that's brave in any language. I will create a running order of forgotten fighters for next week's show and the main piece will be an interview with John H.Stracey. But, Big Aud is a big, big name and last night's show was a massive hit because of it. Thankfully I can serve up Aud and Bernard and Barry M and Carl and David and Amir - without those names there would be no Anthony Joshua or Yassine or Greaves or Daws or Lomax or Choi or Webb or Larry O or Frampton or Rogan ... Adios and thanks again and tell people to listen again!
I really think that it doesn't take too much effort to put up with 10 minutes of Audley every few months in order to get the rest of the content in the show, which is generally pretty darn good.
Cheers Slip, I should of known that really seeing as i watched B-Hop enough. Totally agree with you mate, as ever :good
