Bloody hell, where would all you guys be if your mother's weren't there to tie your shoelaces in the morning?
Bunce to DLH - "...couldn't you have found someone a little bit safer for Amir Khan?" Maidana's been interim 'champion' now for what? 18 months? Are you suggesting that if a mandatory challenge is too dangerous a boxer should and can skip away from it? That Khan gives up his belt and ducks the challenge? Would that really be acceptable?
5live was a peice of ****. 30minute News after every 15 minutes of Boxing talk. Never listening to that **** again, ever.
Great interview with Stracey Bunce, apart from his Xmas song!!! He must have played all of it on the interview, Buncey couldn't stop laughing More interviews with legends the better!
Sorry about the confusion last night - I had no idea until about five that the BBC London show was not going out on 94.9. I hope that during the football the commentators mentioned the boxing show! The Five Live show was cut to bits by the riots - that, by the way is understandable. However, cutting Oscar off for the Luton update has to be pure comic gold. Thanks to everybody for persisting. Adios.
Yeah that was classic. Cheers for the show again Buncey. Listened earlier and it was another good one.
Laiaka...being a mandatory and being a real mandatory (think Salita) and getting a fight against the champion is not a given...deals are done all the time and mandatory challengers are frozen out (Woodhall 2 years and McCracken just under two years). People are buying Khan because he's Khan - perhaps a handful are buying Khan because of Maidana's power. Trust me. When was the last time a British world champion had a defence like this? Adios.
Appreciate your reply. I'm no stickler for alphabet rules (and neither are they) but I don't think it would have reflected well on Khan if he'd dodged this fight. There might be easier money to be made elsewhere but what does it say about boxing when world champions 'negotiate' themselves out of meeting their most dangerous rivals. I couldn't blame tv if they used that as a reason to say thanks but no thanks when it comes to showing boxing. Thankfully it seems Khan wants to be more than a paper champion. Enjoyed the Five Live coverage from Liverpool by the way.
