You answered the question, because pro's do not wear Headguards in fights.

This would probably have a slight nullifying effect.

:huh That doesn't make sense....the headguard nullifys a lot of the effects that a beard would have because it covers most of it up...It doesn't make sense. Its like banning hair if you wear a hat, pointless

The ruling is there for cuts. Already amateurs are helped by Head Guards that can hide cuts, beards could in theory become another added advantage.

If both fighters are clean shaven they are both equal.

For Muslims, beard isn't obligatory. Its a good to have but certainly not a must. I think its a case of fighters being too sensitive, just shave your beard for the fight and regrow it...big deal! The rules are there for a reason, no religious exceptions should be made in my opinion.

That's not universally agreed upon. Some believe it is obligatory, some believe it isn't. And they may as well not even try to keep a beard if they have to shave it off every time they have a fight.

I agree with Icemax. I don't see how much of a further advantage a beard will make, especially when it's already covered up by headgear. But, if that's the rule, then I guess Muslim and Sikh boxers - who value their beliefs more - have to accept it and not box at all.
