I took a pretty bad beating when I sparred a heavier and more experienced guy. Took several shots to the head and suffered blackouts, but for whatever weird reason I never hit the canvas. I was so wobbled that I could not really get any retaliation going. The fella must have felt a bit about it afterwards, because he even apologized to me
been stunned twice never down, one of the times felt like a football being kicked hard the punch was on the eye, flashed up for about 2 seconds
Nice, I went through something like that. I was getting ready to spar a LW with good amatuer experience and I overheard his trainer tell him to knock me out. I was still very green at 156, but with speed and power in both hands. First round went well and controlled. Second round, he is trying to take my head off. I was controlling my power at the time and decided to just end it. Man, it was just a one, two and he was out. They immediatley put in another fighter at 147 for two more rounds. He had many amatuer fights also. Damn, he was in on it and trying to take my head off too. Second round came and he cornered me, but I turned him around and unleashed God knows how many punches until his hands fell to his side and his corner jumped in. Lol, after that, all the sparring was controlled. This is the main reason some guys quit because they are taken advantage of.
Sparred my friend today (well it started off as sparring) who's 5 stone heavier than me and about 8 inches taller, I couldn't get close and had to pay a price to get inside, after I'd done that he times me, and clocked me with an uppercut, it was weird, like everything turned to slow motion, I could feel myself falling and put my hands out to cushion the fall, when I landed I went deaf for two seconds, then composed myself, got up and went right back at it. I got knocked down in the next round too, pulled straight back from a punch which I'm usually fast enough to get away with, but this guys arms were friggin huge, so he clocked me with a right hand and boom hit the floor again, this time my legs were like jelly, but I got up. It's a weird feeling and one that's put me off boxing heavyweights as a welterweight. Been Boxing since I was 10 on and off, and that's the first time I ever hit the deck. Still freaked out now.
I never really been stunned or knocked down in a fight before. I took hard shots though coming in with my hands down :gsg Threw a right cross and had my left hand down and my friend caught me as I was throwing.
I got KO'd by a sucker punch outside of a nightclub... Felt kind of good, actually. My head/face went warm and I felt myself fall and it felt really graceful (like when you close your eyes as a kid and you're on a swing). Not bad at all. Of course, I'd also done ecstasy, smoked pot, and did some Kamikaze shots. I was quite chipper for having just been KTFO'd. :rofl
I got some pretty intense sparring on Tuesday, this thread has made me feel so good about it, thanks guys.
Twice in sparring in the Kenpo studio. I took a really quick inside left hook to the jaw that I never saw coming. I didn't go all the way out, but don't remember the punch; only my ass hitting the mat. It took a second to realize that the pain in my jaw was directly related to being on the mat. The second time was from a kick to the ribs after I missed a punch. My mouthpiece popped out, I dropped to my knee, and couldn't breathe. This was the most painful one by far. My entire body radiated pain for a bit and only pure anger and adrenaline allowed me to get up.
I have never been dropped or wobbled but I was stunned once recently. Knockdowns don't happen that often. I have never seen one in my gym. I've seen people get knocked out in fights before though.
