Lol!! Prime RJJ barley got touched let alone lost a round to Campbell level opponent, Loma lost 3 or 4 rounds tonight.
Campbell is good. His style was tricky for lomachenko tonight. But roy jones would have broke it down easily enough imo. Loma has the skill but roys athletism was other worldly. People criticise roy saying he wasnt technically great. But if you can get away with what roy done and not be hit back...it pretty much is technically great.
Jones lost 4 rounds to a one dimensional Hopkins, the first 4 rounds against watery old McCallum, was losing against Griffin before getting himself DQ'd and Harding took plenty of rounds off him Hopkins was 10 years prior to his best and McCallum 10 years past his best Loma won 10 or 11 of the rounds against a prime young Olympic Gold medalist and dropped him, in his 15th ever fight Lou Del Valle flattened Jones
A middleweight version of Luke Campbell would have been beaten from pillar to post and KTFO by a prime Jones who would also have done some funny dances in between pounding Campbell's face into mush. One sided humiliation. Luke Campbell is a good fighter. Luke Campbell is also LEVELS, no, PANTHEON below Roy Jones level, he didn't look levels below Lomachenko though did he. Listen, Lomachenko is a very good fighter, very good. But when I see sky telling me how this is a truly special moment, a provellaged to behold such a wonderful historic display of one of the greatest fighters of all time and then I see a very competetive dust up with Luke Campbell from hull, and they try tell me this fella is Roy Jones level... You can **** right off.
Hopkins won 4 rounds? Lol, he won 2 tops in the first fight, Hopkins, Toney and Hill were all one or two classes above Campbell and they took less rounds off Jones combined then Campbell did Loma Griffin was also better than Campbell. As for Del Valle, Jones toyed with him every second before the flash KD and toyed with him every second afterwards, and Del Valle was at the very least as good as Campbell. A past prime Linares "flattened" Loma.
Toney was a dead man walking that night, a punchbag from the weight-making Actually, Toney at his best was definitely, clearly better than Loma Hill was many years past his best, and Hopkins hadn't even reached his life and death with Mercado level yet Plus Luke Campbell was too big and tall and long for Loma and stylistically wrong. Loma still won every round after the first
RJJ at his prime was a physical tornado, yes he broke a lot of rules of boxing fundamentals but had the physical gifts to do so. The biggest of his gifts was reflexes. Unfortunately, when this gift declined even buy a little bit, RJJ started to get knocked out NAS is lucky his career ended when it did, his decline would have been similar
Lomachenko is down as being 5”7 but I reckon he’s more 5”5, not sure others agree with that but at 5”9, Luke Campbell absolutely towered over him. He’s a natural featherweight and he’s boxing the heads off lads who probably have a stone+ on him on the night. Linares was well over a stone heavier. We have to bear this in mind when we start saying it was ‘only Luke Campbell’. These lads hold an insane physical advantage over him. I think he should step back down now and polish off rising stars such as Gervonta Davis, Stevenson...wonder if he can even get down to featherweight again and face Santa Cruz or even our own Josh Warrington. 140 is a bridge too far physically. Ramirez, Prograis and Taylor brutally stop him imo.
Lomachenko is a talented fighter but this ATG nonsense needs to stop. ATG's do not have competitive fights with Euro level boxers like Luke Campbell and lose to Orlando Salido, now those performances could be counter balanced if Loma had some notable wins on his resume but as of now he doesn't, Gary Russell and Linares are currently the best on his CV (not even bringing up the Rigo win, 40 year old bantam weights don't count). Does Loma pass the eye test as a supposed ATG ?? For many people yes. For me ?? Nah. Very talented fighter, but nothing makes me sit up and think I'm watching greatness as I have in the past with Floyd, Roy, Whitaker, Morales, Barrera, Pac, Lennox. And it isn't about entertainment, I find Loma boring to watch but I also found Pernell Whitaker boring to watch but still could appreciate the talent on display, same to an extent with Usyk, find watching him a cure for an insomnia but can appreciate what I'm seeing. If Loma can beat Gervonta Davis then we can start talking about ATG status but as of right now the nonsense needs to stop. BTW fully aware I'm going to draw the ire of Loma fans and cause more than a few triggerings with this post.
