Paul Williams followed a strict diet to make 147. And in his mid 20s he clearly outgrew the division. But yea, he was very lean for his height and had no issues making 154.

I do think his body type is genetics, BUT I also think he doesn't live the life. He's missed weight before, got caught using drugs, is seen getting absolutely smashed fairly often, looks like he balloons a bit between fights, and probably has an eating disorder. Him gassing out like he did makes me think he has a hard time staying focused between bouts.

he lacks mass at 175, it seems like all the weight goes into his midsection. Andy ruiz is the same but you can tell he has alot of muscle underneath that fat. i cant say the same for benvidez. he should stick to 168 because his style will not work against these bigger stronger men.

Yeah, Ruiz is fat af, but you can see a lot of muscle on his upper body. Benavidez looks skinny fat. I don't know if he could make 168. I know he said he was 189 or something, but the way he hesitated makes me think he was lying. I reckon he weighed closer to 200 lbs.

Gvozdyk through pitty pat punches all night. Benavidez still has no footwork. Don't understand why Gvozdyk never decided to open up. In some cases Eastern Euro fighters are just too reserved to open up.

Defensively I thought that was the best I have seen from him; his head movement and tight guard in the first half of the fight were very good IMO. However it was clear he is not yet a natural light heavyweight; his punches seemed to have little effect on Gvozdyk, and he tired much earlier than he usually does. If he wishes to continue at 175 then he should take a couple of easier fights to get acclimatised at the weight.

Benavidez looks like he tries to throw every shot with maximum power.

That, combined with high punch output is a recipe for tiring yourself out.

By the second half of the fight, his punch output dropped significantly and his punches did not have the same pop.

He'll have to learn to be more economical and smarter with his approach at LHW.
