And even that hasn't worked, you can still buy 8 seats together 1 day before the fight - in a 750 seat venue! Wait for Matchroom fc to pipe up 'but we got $35 and a burger king voucher site fee'
Frank Smith will be positioned outside the function room from 10am to tell the Grannies that afternoon bingo is off today.
If you think in-crowd fighting at boxing shows over here is bad wait till you see what happens when you tell grannies that bingo is off.
Whilst handing out free tickets in a desperate last minute attempt to make the place look at least half full "Massive Koogs" "Crawford next Koogs"
I'd love to know if they self aware enough to realise how tin pot this is? Like are they just playing the script and they know this is ludicrous or do they genuinely think Benn is conquering Vegas?
I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with main eventing a Vegas ballroom, it’s just not something we’re used to seeing British fighters doing. When they go to the States it’s normally to headline in a decent sized arena, in rare occasions as the main attraction, but more likely as cannon fodder for the local hometown hero. Just main eventing a Vegas ballroom on a Saturday lunchtime because you’re banned from fighting in your own country is a bit sad. But yeah, they know. The build-up has been all *nudge, nudge, wink* about what’s going on. Maybe they’d have been better shoving it on at the Caribe Royale in Orlando where DAZN have had a few shows recently. Seems slightly less daft than bigging up Vegas and would probably have been easier and cheaper for the Bosh Army and co to get over to to fill it up a bit.
This weird situation - Las Vegas in UK primetime - is surely just be to fill a designated "UK" schedule date for DAZN. I remember Hearn saying that the Bivol Abu Dhabi event they did in UK hours did the same. Selling it to the casuals as Las Vegas is simply because it's easier to sell on Good Morning Britain. Better than reminding people of the real situation. Ultimately at some point (even if it's after a ban) Benn will box in the UK again, and they need to keep him in the casual's eyes. As long as the British boxers on the undercard are being paid fairly for the inconvenience (and not ripped off because "chance of a lifetime") then good luck to them. Ultimately none of it matters though. Even those of us with DAZN will be watching the Sky card tonight instead.
Whittaker isn’t a jumped up little rich kid who failed 2 drug tests then tried using the mental health card to squirm out of it.
