Benn fails drug test

I’m not saying Garcia didn’t cheat I’m no authority on this but he passed a test a week before the failed one which surely raises suspicion. Why would he start taking a substance a week before the fight? Yeah, if he’s dirty he should be banned no doubt. Good to see him actually try to prove his innocence and request B samples etc rather than just go off the radar (which could also be a defence mechanism, he who screams loudest).

 

My position on this has changed over time. I used to be closer to this, but now I think I'm more about co-operation and intent.

It's one thing being caught, holding your hands up, and taking your punishment.

It's another thing being caught, tying the authorities up in legal nonsense, and trying to make it disappear.

Any system imho has to have an element of carrot and stick. If you fail - there has to be a punishment, with the carrot of a future career if you co-operate and don't cheat again. The ban should be based on intent - Jarrell Miller, for example, should have been banned for much longer than, say, someone who took a prescribed substance for a medical condition and made a genuine mistake. (Obviously everyone will claim the latter - but reasonable doubt etc).

If you fail and don't co-operate - then you deserve whatever you get, including a lifetime ban.

This process really is a bit like debt. It's very easy to ignore the first few angry letters, but at some point it's going to seriously impact your life. I think this is where Benn is now and this is where I have very limited sympathy.

 

Yep. The continuous lies and deceit from Eddie Hearn and Conor Bent make this case stand out like a sore thumb compared to any others I can remember.

Even that POS, Alycia Bum has followed the same playbook. Disgusting vile woman, proudly says she's been cleared and still has all her belts so she doesn't anything to answer for now.

 

I'm now seeing some reports that contradict my statement that zero amount of Osterine can be allowed in the athlete's system. I was getting my info from Dan Rafael on Twitter who said as much and that's somebody who's usually a good source for info and facts and somebody who's neutral and with no agenda. Even with Garcia's trace amounts of Osterine, it's reported that this amount was still 60 times the amount that wouldn't be considered abnormal but I wouldn't like to spread false info as fact so thought I'd point this out and hold my hands up.

 

It seems she's basically cleared herself. Same playbook as Benn, as you say - a "technical report" showing there was no intentional use of anything. No denying the failed tests, just saying she has better evidence so they shouldn't count. And going with the "unintentional" angle means she's ignoring strict liability too.

Looks like none of the governing bodies nor Matchroom have backed her up yet.

 

Better evidence that i take it nobody has been presented with? What a boot. Used to like her when she rocked up and poleaxed Terri Harper but she got a gift VS Mayer on the chicks R Us card and was a bad winner about it if memory serves.

 

She was indeed. Went from the mouthy underdog to the mouthy lucky winner not in need of a rematch. And it seems her better evidence has been sent somewhere, but who knows who's seen it?

 

I honestly doubt it bothers him mate. The only thing which Hearn seems to care about is a pound note. Bizarre behaviour, but each to their own.

 

That is why every boxing fan across the globe should boycott DAZN and stop buying tickets for all Matchroom Cards.

If people keep giving, Hearn will gladly keep taking.

Hearn has boxing fans down as real mugs who can be milked dry falling for any bullshyte.

 

Hearn established long ago, probably told by his father, that boxing fans are like circus goers. Easy to baffle with b.s. There's a sucker born every minute. Step right this way.

 

Agree with you there mate. I'm sure he cares more about adding an extra few quid to the pile than his legacy.

But I do hope the amount of stick he's getting from all corners has made him realise he's flying too close to the sun with Benn.

Some of the fights they have been trying to make have been scandalous. Shot Brook, shot Khan, Grandad Manny Pac, even Eubank Jr when it was supposed to be a 157lb catchweight. Jr would have arrived at the weigh-in looking like something from the Walking Dead.

If one of these guys gets seriously hurt then even Hearn must now know it's not something he'll be able to worm himself out of. All of his lies and spin will be laid bare and it could bring the whole house crashing down.

Could Team Benn have handled this any worse?

 

Benson is such a leech. He doesn't even have the decency to credit the reporter who broke the story, Riath al-Samarrai.

Credit to Riath - and of course to UKAD for standing their ground. Nobody should be able to bully the authorities as Benn and his team have tried to do.
